About This Role:

The Department of Theatre & Dance at Lamar University seeks a full-time staff position in Production Management and Audience Services. Responsibilities include scheduling spaces and space rentals/assignments; assistance with and scheduling of show builds; supporting and organizing outreach and recruiting endeavors; administrative assistance and box office/front of house management; assistance in scenic, lighting, and paint shops; other duties as agreed upon with Department Chair.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Manage all box office and front of house for all Department of Theatre & Dance performances as needed.
  • Assist in scenic, lighting, paint and properties shops as requested and in working with the Technical Director and Design faculty.
  • Work with Technical Director to ensure all appropriate paperwork (F3.33) is filled out for use of spaces and information is communicated to facilities and LUPD in a timely fashion.
  • Work with Administrative Assistant to maintain all space schedules and bookings for departmental and non-departmental/ community groups.
  • Work with Department Chair to invoice all University and non-University groups using the space in a timely manner and to ensure payment is received.
  • Manage all staff and work study/ production/ student workers in box office and front of house for all Theatre & dance performances as needed.
  • Ensure all University and non-University groups have filled out and/or provided all appropriate paperwork for using said spaces and follow appropriate protocol.
  • Manage box office for all external groups as ticketing software becomes available and implemented.
  • Assist with implementation of ticketing software as requested.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree


Key Competencies:


  • Ability to operate credit card machine and online ticketing software.
  • Basic abilities with scene shop tools, painting preferred.
  • Ability to work with Microsoft calendar.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift at least 40 pounds as needed.

Job Conditions: Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm with some after hours and weekends.

  • Undergraduate and/or Graduate degree in Theatre/Technical Theatre/ Theatre Management.
  • Experience with Audience Services and on-line ticketing.
  • Experience in areas of technical theatre/design and/or construction for theatre and/or dance.
