Rhode Island School for Progressive Education (RISPE) seeks a full-time Development Officer. The Development Officer is responsible for supporting fundraising initiatives and building community awareness of RISPE’s work. This role will work closely with the Director of Development and the Vice President of Strategy and Partnerships to sustain financial support of RISPE’s mission. The salary range for this position is $55,000-$65,000 annually.

Duties for this position will include the following:

Grants management

• Researching and keeping the Development Team abreast of new grant opportunities
• Writing grant proposals
• Preparing and submitting grant reports
• Managing timelines and needs associated with grants, including coordinating with other staff as necessary

Community engagement

• Maintaining email lists for RISPE updates
• Preparing and sending promotional emails, newsletters, and other marketing communications
• Preparing and posting social media content as necessary

Grassroots fundraising

• Supporting small-dollar fundraising efforts such as annual appeal and 401 Gives
• Managing grassroots donor database
• Managing grassroots donor communications

Rhode Island School for Progressive Education (RISPE) is Rhode Island’s first residency-style graduate school of education. RISPE was developed over four years with generous support from the Rhode Island Foundation and the United Way of Rhode Island, and received unanimous approval from the Rhode Island Council on Postsecondary Education in March 2019. RISPE’s goal is to improve outcomes for all students in Rhode Island’s urban public schools by diversifying the teacher pipeline, employing an anti-racist curriculum, and using best practices that have been piloted and proven in public schools across the region to train and prepare highly effective teachers for Rhode Island’s urban public schools.
