Job Summary
Pharmacy technician will perform unit dose cart-fill, filling of automated dispensing machines/unit dose distribution systems, prepare sterile IV products including chemotherapy agents. Ability to complete billing and other clerical duties as well as complete various projects assigned. Experience on Medication Reconciliation and patient interaction is a plus
Essential Functions
Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision. Ability to work cooperatively with health-system and pharmacy staff. Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule. Ability to set priorities, make critical decisions, and respond quickly to emergency requests. Ability to exercise sound professional judgment. Ability to communicate effectively (orally and in writing). Ability to meet the pharmaceutical care needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric, psychiatric, oncology, obstetric, chemically dependent, rehabilitation, and skilled-nursing patients, with knowledge of unit-dose drug distribution, IV admixture service, and clinical drug therapeutics.
Job Qualifications:
Education
  • Currently licensed as a pharmacy technician in the State of California.
Experience
  • One year of pharmacy experience as a pharmacy technician in an institutional setting or an equivalent combination of education/experience.
License/ Certifications
  • Current American Heart Association BLS Certification

  • The drive, to learn, inspire, influence and educate others with humility while being assertive in advocating for the department of Pharmacy yet cooperative with other leaders, physicians and clinicians
  • Executing the department of Pharmacy’s mission, vision and Oath of a Pharmacist as a role model and leading necessary changes in collaboration with Pharmacy leadership
  • Excellent innovation, critical thinking, conflict resolution, negotiation and problem-solving skills
Physical Demand and Working Conditions
Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g. preparing IV admixtures, use of a computer keyboard). Requires lifting (up to 25 pounds) and carrying light loads including boxes, equipment, unit-dose cassettes, and IV solutions, and stooping or kneeling (e.g. to pick up items from the floor, to remove and replace items on lower shelves, and to file documents in lower file drawers). Sitting, walking, or standing for long periods of time (4-8 hours) is often necessary. Must be physically able to operate the equipment used for the job.

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $30.12 - $37.65 per hour
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
