As a pharmacist you are responsible for preparing and dispensing appropriate pharmaceuticals to patients. The job entails a high level of responsibility and knowledge. The goal is to ensure safe and effective medication use and be a patient care advocate.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing prescriptions from providers to ensure accuracy, safety, appropriateness and legality, and providing interventions where appropriate.
  • Providing counseling to patients regarding prescription medications and OTC recommendations.
  • Keeping accurate records of patient profiles, inventory and reports.
  • Maintains full oversight and control over pharmacy operational requirements, which includes managing and directing pharmacy team members, ordering and receiving medications from wholesalers, maintaining adequate inventory based on the needs of the business and appropriate storage of pharmaceuticals.
  • Complies with state and federal drug laws as regulated by the state board of pharmacy, the drug enforcement administration, and the food and drug administration by maintaining accurate records for controlled substances; removing outdated, recalled and damaged drugs from the pharmacy inventory; supervising the pharmacy team members; maintaining current registration; knowledge of existing legislation and professional codes of practice; anticipating future legislation; advising management on appropriate actions to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations to protect patients and pharmacy team members.
  • Knowledgeable of existing treatment guidelines and standards of patient care, while adapting to changes in treatment guidelines and advancements in medicine.
  • Leads by example and motivates the pharmacy team to provide excellent patient care and customer service.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a pharmacist + 2 years
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Thorough understanding of dosage administration and measurement, chemical compounds, medical brands etc.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy law and medical terminology
  • Ability to prioritize and make decisions in a fast paced, high stress environment
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and Pharmacy information systems
  • Integrity and compassion
  • Degree in Pharmacy with an active pharmacist license in good standing in the USVI
  • Must be willing to work weekends

Physical Requirements:

  • Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift twenty (20) pounds. Moving, lifting or carrying boxes.'
