Role Summary

Under the direction of the human resource manager, the People Development & Training Specialist is responsible to organize, coordinate and/or facilitate performance and talent Management activities and Corporate HR Programs in the NA region. This position aids in assessing developmental needs of the Group to drive training initiatives and identifies and arranges suitable training solutions for employees. This position supports development and/or implementation of initiatives to enhance workforce performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for tracking the annual training budget and Training Grants activity.
  • Perform all duties and promote themselves in a manner that reflects MEVS Expectations, MEVS’s Visions/Values through Magna’s Employee Charter.
  • Recommends, designs, and standardizes MPT global PD&T programs, key processes, and services.
  • Actively supports HR Business Partners and assigned region during the roll-out, execution and implementation phases of PD&T programs.
  • Support the creation, preparation and execution of leadership development activities and programs.
  • Actively supports, suggests, and recommends improvements and development of all related programs and processes for PD&T and OD to ensure Best-in-Class services and expertise are created and supplied.
  • Drive the execution in the region of Magna/MPT training and development activities.
  • Ensure that MPT talent management activities - performance management, talent reviews/succession planning, and talent development - are implemented and supported in area of responsibility to improve leadership bench strength.
  • Partner with NA Leadership and HR team members to identify and address workforce development needs.
  • Serves as the point contact and SME for MPT PD&T programs and key processes for assigned region.
  • Coaches and supports local HR and PD&T Teams in each assigned region.
  • Serves as SME and point of contact for Assessments, Coaching, and related services for area of responsibility.
  • Lead, coordinate and/or facilitate all relevant projects in the region linked to Magna Program initiatives (e.g., Employee Surveys).
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned at management's discretion.

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • Contribute to continuous improvement and cost reduction activities.
  • Drive the development of new technologies to improve quality, efficiency and reduce cost.
  • Liaises across departments to coordinate training program delivery.
  • Assists with development and facilitation of in-house training programs to support company initiatives.
  • Assesses training needs and sources appropriate courses, instructors, and training facilities.
  • Evaluates course effectiveness, follow up with participants and leaders and modifying course content or course vendor, as required.
  • Maintains training systems including training records, training calendar.
  • Sets up facilities for training and workshops, prepares training materials and training documentation.
  • Collects and reports on training metrics (training costs, hours of training, budget, etc.)
  • Liaises with other divisions for training needs, opportunities, and resources.
  • Administers the educational assistance program.
  • Drive TWI initiatives and be a resource for TWI trainers
  • Facilitating of the:
  • TWI Train-the-Trainer process
  • New Hire Orientation, Leadership Orientation
  • Creating and delivering training packages
  • Perform other duties as designated.

Additional Information

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Post-secondary education in Business, Human Resources, Psychology, Organization Development, Human Resources, or related field of study desired; progressive work experience is acceptable for consideration.
  • Previous experience or knowledge of technical, health, and safety or leadership areas desired.
  • At least 10 years of experience in Human Resources, or related field, at least 5 - 7 years' experience in learning and development, leadership assessment, talent management, strategic and tactical human resources management, preferably in manufacturing
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in creating, administrating, and sustaining talent management processes, including learning and development and succession planning systems.
  • Experience in leading global cross-functional projects, teams, and organizations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
