LSA is looking for a Payroll Manager

Life Services Alternatives, Inc. (LSA) is a California non-profit Corporation. Our Mission is to provide exceptional community-based living experiences and services for people with special needs. LSA currently serves residents living in adult residential homes under license from the Department of Social Services. LSA operates in Santa Clara County, CA.

About the Job: We are seeking a Payroll Manager with discretion and excellent professional judgment who will be responsible for payroll and maintaining the HRIS system.

POSITION: Payroll Manager

HOURS: M-F / Full-Time / Occasional weekend work to process payroll

REPORTS TO: VP of Finance/Controller

FLSA STATUS: Salary / Exempt

POSITION OVERVIEW: Primary responsibility for the accurate and timely processing of payroll, including review of time sheets for accuracy, payroll administration and HRIS input and maintains the integrity of HRIS data. Supports 403b and other annual audits. May provide backup for traditional HR functions.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Responsible for full cycle payroll preparation and processing on a semi-monthly basis using ADP WORKFORCE NOW.

2. Issue and prepare manual payroll checks as necessary.

3. Manage the day-to-day operation of payroll administration, time reporting, taxes, deductions, and garnishments.

4. Meets all governmental reporting requirements for payroll taxes, withholding and employer contributions.

5. Manage and fund 403b employee payroll deductions. Participates in the 403b census and 403b filing 5500 and other annual audits.

6. Prepares and runs various audits and reports using the payroll and HRIS systems including creating ad hoc reports.

7. Maintains the integrity of the data in the HRIS/employee database.

8. Updates employee information changes in ADP.

9. Ensures that all employee information is filed and maintained according to proper procedures.

10. First point of contact to answer employee requests related to payroll and policy.

11. May act as backup for new hire orientation and related functions.

12. Complete EDD requests forms.

13. Experience in workers’ compensation preferred.

14. Experience in leaves of absence is a plus.

15. Prepares and submits FLEX non-discriminate testing

16. Other assignments as requested.

Essential knowledge and skill requirements:

3 to 10 years ADP Workforce Now full cycle payroll processing experience a plus

2 to 5 years experience general office accounting a plus

Knowledge of Human Resources administration and Health and Wellness Benefits preferred

Bachelor’s Degree preferred

Strong working knowledge and execution of all aspects of ADP Workforce Now /Payroll & HRIS systems

Able to work independently and in a team setting

Strong Excel skills, Pivot Tables a plus

ZOOM experience preferred

High level of integrity along with the ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality

Ability to communicate effectively and with compassion

Certified Payroll Professional designation (CPP) highly desirable; FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification) a plus

Proven ability to manage priorities and workflow

Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines (must be a multi-tasker)

Strong interpersonal skills with management and non-management staff

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Education:

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

This position is a mandated reporter, and is required to observe all consumers rights, report unusual occurrences as specified in Title 22, California Code of Regulations.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Able to lift up to 25 lbs and will ask for assistance when needed.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
