Part Time or Full Time School Counselor - St. Stephen Job at The Catholic Diocese of St. Petersburg
St. Stephen Catholic School seeks a school counselor (full-time preferred, but can be part-time). Candidates for this position should support the mission of Catholic Education and act in accordance with Catholic doctrine. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organizational skills. The candidate must also hold a valid Florida or national school counselor certificate or a valid Florida license in an area of mental health or be eligible for certification.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Works in collaboration with teachers and school administration concerning student issues.
- Individual and/or small group counseling of students with academic, behavioral, and personal/social concerns.
- Assists students in developing a plan for achieving educational, behavioral, and personal/social goals.
- Implements a comprehensive school counseling program by teaching classroom guidance lessons to classes.
- Assist with TerraNova tests; dates, schedules, materials, and accommodation groups for testing.
- Confers with classroom teachers, administration, support staff, parents, and community agencies regarding students and their needs.
- Follows the guidelines of the national, state, and district standards for professional school counselors.
- Adheres to ethical and legal professional standards.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Candidates must successfully complete a Level II background screening and mandated trainings. Salary and benefits are commensurate with the school scale and Diocesan benefits policy.
