CONTRACT LAND PLANNER

SUMMARY Azachorok Inc. is accepting applications for Contract Land Planner. This is a position in professional planning and administrative work related to city planning activities.
Ideal candidate is an enthusiastic, detailed-oriented individual with a strong knowledge of all phases of Planning. Duties include but are not limited to assisting in the review and evaluation of land use applications, project designs, plans and technical documents for compliance with ANCSA regulations, City standards and regulatory requirements pertaining to the Land Planner aspect of the position. Assists in developing and implementing comprehensive land use plan, and its related planning components (i.e. maps), and updating the Azachorok Inc. and City zoning and subdivision regulations.
This contract position will also require administrative and project support to the corporation and also may assist in the front-line support for Azachorok’s Mountain Village Corporate Office. This position performs administrative duties, tasks, and projects specific to the position.
4 years in Public Administration, Urban Planning or closely related field and two years' experience in current planning principles and practices and have professional experience in working with constituents and communicating effectively to shareholders on a wide array of issues. Individual must also be willing to learn the aspects of ANCSA land implementation, and other laws and regulations of being a Land Planner/Shareholder Relations Specialist.
JOB DUTIES – Land Planning
· Assist in preparing reports and recommendations to the supervisors concerning annexation, land use, subdivision designs, zoning changes, community facilities, and capital projects;
· Assist in preparing outlines of work programs for research and planning studies necessary for the preparation of a comprehensive plan subject to review;
· Utilizing drones to survey land acreage and assisting in remote Alaska to carry out duties to complete land leasing, conveyance, and regularly updating records related to land use permits on an annual basis. Assist in preparing proposals for revision of the zoning ordinance and other ordinances;
· Assist in reviewing applications and plans for rezoning or conveyance, zoning variances, subdivision plans, plats, building plans, drainage plans, grading plans, sign permits, and site plans to assure compliance with all legal provisions;
· Coordinates practical application of comprehensive plan through zoning and administrative procedures; Coordinates with other agencies in planning programs and prepares reports or applications required by other agencies;
· Consults with the CEO and Board of Directors;
· Provides assistance to citizens, contractors, developers, and other individuals on any question related to Azachorok’s planning activities;
· Performs research on policies and implementation techniques involving land use and community development;

Pay: $30.00 per hour
