QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associates degree OR ParaPro Certification OR Completion of 48 credit hours at an Institution of Higher Education.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, administration and families.
- Demonstrated concern for, and the ability to work with, students of varying needs, talents and abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain the confidentiality of students and their families.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or his/her designee may find appropriate.

EMPLOYMENT: with the Berkshire Hills Regional School District Unit C Contract.
REPORTS TO: BUILDING PRINCIPAL
JOB GOALS: To work closely with students in various instructional settings to assist with the delivery of instruction and instructional-related activities so students gain the full benefits from the District’s educational opportunities.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the guidance of the teacher, implement strategies and procedures developed by teachers to maintain safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environments including:
- Assist teachers with the application of technology to support instruction.
- Help students with directions and clarification of instructions as needed.
- Keep students focused on assignments and learning.
- Provide academic support under the direction of the classroom teacher(s).
- Take notes and list assignments for students as needed.
- Assist students with labs, projects, and tests as needed.
- Perform additional instructional-related activities/duties as assigned.
- Under the guidance of the teacher, effectively implement learning strategies, prompting procedures and other systematic instructional procedures using a variety of instructional grouping arrangements.
- Accompany student(s) around the school and to required programs and activities if/and as needed, including to/from vans or school buses as needed.
- Under the direction of the teacher, use developmentally, age-appropriate strategies, equipment, materials, and technologies in a manner that facilitates student learning and accomplishes educational goals.
- Meet with the teacher one time per week, before or after school, in order to review and discuss instructional and/or behavioral plans for the classroom or a specific student in order to engage in team/classroom preparation.
- Provide input to teacher(s), liaison(s) and/or administration on student(s) growth and development as appropriate.
- Assist students to apply self-help skills and check homework assignment as needed.
- Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher(s).
- Support students in completion of career interest surveys and transition skills inventories.
- Assist with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips.
- Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as the Superintendent and/or his/her designee may assign or delegate.
EVALUATION: Written annually by the Principal and/or his/her designee.
