About the team:
The Operations Engineering Manager will have up to 5 direct reports with the following skill sets: Industrial and Ops Engineering, Tool Design, Test Fixture Engineering.
About the role:
Lead operations engineering team to meet business objectives. Engage staff of operations engineers to drive continuous improvement in manufacturing and transaction processes throughout the site. Act as lead technical resource for manufacturing environment in identifying and implementing advanced technologies to ensure safety and drive productivity within the business. Define standards and manage technical support documentation to facilitate manufacturing operations along with critical ERP data to support products.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Maintain and support a safe work environment by identifying risks, implementing improvements to safety procedures, and enforcing safety rules and practices
- Manage staff of engineers focused on the support of manufacturing and transactional processes throughout the site
- Develop and support intellectual capital plans for team to ensure professional growth and increasing levels of contribution to the business
- Drive continuous improvement throughout the team using the Crane Business System (CBS) tools while coaching and developing team in proper use and understanding of these fundamentals
- Define standards and organization of technical assembly documents including work instructions, quality alerts, process failure mode effect analysis (PFMEAs), and control plans
- Define standards and ensure accurate maintenance and control over ERP product data including bill of materials (BOMs), labor routings, costs, and item master information
- Develop annual expense and capital budgets while managing spend throughout the year to meet business performance objectives
- Identify appropriate industry technologies to incorporate into manufacturing process to improve safety, quality, delivery, or cost performance
Qualifications and Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent
- 5-10 years’ experience in manufacturing operations/engineering
Physical Requirements of the Job
- Office environment; must be able to perform frequent repetitive tasks, and be able to sit or stand at and operate a computer for up to 80% of the day.
- Ability to comfortably walk 2-3 miles per day
- Cognitive skills such as thinking, reasoning, understanding, learning and remembering are required up to 80% of the day.
- Ability to lift, push or pull equipment of 10 lbs or greater up to 10% of the day.
- Travel to customer sites as required (1 day/month). Travel to critical trade shows and company meetings (1 day/month).
