About the Role

Our team is seeking an experienced Laboratory Operations Specialist to assist in carrying out projects and supporting requests across the organization. As an integral part of the Facilities and Lab Ops team, you will use your expertise in general laboratory management to collaborate with the teams internally and assist them in reaching daily, weekly, and monthly goals. Using your keen attention-to-detail, you will support the Facilities & Laboratory Manager in establishing and implementing essential processes and systems. Plus, you will have the opportunity to regularly interact directly with all of the internal members of the Lygos team!

Role and responsibilities:

• Manage all activities related to media preparation and glassware processing
• Media quality control testing
• Schedule calibrations and drive preventive maintenance as needed
• Coordinate and execute all EHS related initiatives or changes, C&S (Cleaning & Sanitizing) procedures, and HazMat related tasks
• Coordinate and collaborate with analytical chemistry, strain engineering, fermentation, downstream processing, and scale-up manufacturing teams
• Lead or collaborate on any projects assigned by Facility and Lab Operations Manager under supervision
• Clean + sanitize lab equipment, including bioreactors and fermenters

Qualifications and experience:

• Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry or any related field and 3+ years of experience in laboratory settings, or other degree/diploma with equivalent years of experience
• Demonstrated experience managing general laboratory operations related to equipment maintenance and documentation
• Hands-on experience with media preparation and glassware processing
• Ability to define and adhere to daily, weekly, monthly and annual projects and goals
• Experience with recording and managing electronic files, data, and logs
• Exposure to quality control testing and techniques
• Ability to lift ~75 lbs

Nice-to-haves (but NOT required):

• Experience developing or optimizing SOPs
• Experience with environmental monitoring
• Management or leadership experience
• Exposure to purchasing, shipping/receiving and inventory
• Experience performing quality testing of media

Compensation and Benefits: Lygos offers highly competitive salaries, stock options, bonus and benefits, including medical and dental insurance, unlimited paid time off, and 401(k).

• Salary Range: $65,000 - $80,000. Actual pay will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to location, skill, experience, and performance.
