Responsibilities
- The position is one of providing direct patient care to women in labor, through delivery, postpartum, and to provide direct care to the newborn
- Assuring all aspects of maternal childcare
- Responsibility Performing assessments, monitoring process of labor, preparing for C-sections, inductions, and proper documentation of nursing care
- Administer care during labor, post-delivery, and postpartum including infant care and providing patient education
- Prepares delivery room, provides emotional support, and coordinates transfers
- Administer IV medications, adhere to principles of infection control and general policies of OB department
- Knowledge and/or interest in obstetrics and equipment. AccountabilityThe RN reports directly to the New Beginnings Birth Center Manager
Qualifications
- Exposure to blood and body fluids, unpleasant sights, smells and infectious diseases possible. Qualifications Education: RN graduate with current Colorado licensure
- Must have current CPR certification
- Neonatal Resuscitation Certification and ACLS required
- Skills: Knowledge of or interest in learning labor, delivery, postpartum and nursing care essentials
- Principles of sterile technique and infection control
- Skilled in technical aspects of mother/infant care
- Able to perform effectively in highly stressful situations
- Able to interact effectively with a wide variety of people and have good communication skills
- General Certifications: ACLS BLS/BCLS PALS NRP
