Position Title: Affiliate Development and Volunteer Specialist, NAMI Golden Plains

Reports to: Chair, NAMI Golden Plains Affiliate

Executive Director, NAMI Kansas

Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt Position at 30 hours per week

PURPOSE: The Affiliate Development and Volunteer Specialist for NAMI Golden Plains

Kansas. This position has responsibility for affiliate development and volunteer recruitment, management, and retention.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

NAMI Golden Plains Kansas Assignment Responsibilities (30 hours/week)

  • In collaboration with the NAMI Golden Plains Kansas Steering Committee, identify, engage, recruit supporters, mange, develop, and coordinate influencers, program leaders, steering committee members, and volunteers that will assist in the development and growth of NAMI

Golden Plains Kansas, including the NAMI Walks Your Way Kansas fundraising event.

  • Collaborate with the NAMI Kansas Family Program Director, NAMI Kansas Resource Line

Director, NAMI Kansas Peer Program and SAMHSA Project Director, NAMI Golden Plains

Kansas Steering Committee, and local affiliate teachers, facilitators, coaches, and presenters to expand and increase the number of signature programs currently offered by local affiliate – add at least three additional calendar opportunities for signature programs (Family to Family,

Family Support Group, Connection, Ending the Silence, IOOV, Basics, Peer to Peer, etc.)

  • Recruit teachers, facilitators, presenters, and leaders for annual NAMI signature programs and support groups state training: Family to Family, Basics, Peer to Peer, IOOV, Ending the

Silence, Family Support Group, and Connection o Obtain NAMI Golden Plains Kansas Steering Committee approval for signature program and support group recruits and collaborate with NAMI Kansas Family

Program Director and NAMI Kansas Peer Program and SAMHSA Project Director concerning application process for annual NAMI signature program state trainings:

Family to Family, Basics, Peer to Peer, Family Support Group, IOOV, and Connection

  • Assist and/or Collaborate with the NAMI Kansas Resource Line Director to: o Further develop NAMI Resource Line, including utilization of the NAMI Help Line

Hub and NAMI Help Line training o Identify and develop relationships with other local service providers in the local affiliate assignment geographical area to build resource network

  • Coordinate with the NAMI Walks Your Way Kansas Walk Manager to help promote and engage NAMI Golden Plains Kansas members and Golden Plains Kansas residents’ participation in the Walk as well as residents of the expansion counties.

  • Collaborate with NAMI Kansas Executive Director and/or Grant Writer to secure additional funding to sustain NAMI Golden Plains Kansas and further expansion efforts to NAMI Golden

Plains initiative.

  • Assist state certified signature program and support group leaders, facilitators, presenters, and teachers with scheduling, facilitating, and hosting local signature program classes and support groups
  • Manage and Market NAMI Golden Plains Kansas signature program and support group schedule and activities
  • Manage the various aspects of NAMI 720 Salesforce, including membership and data reporting of signature program attendance and graduations.
  • Report all data requested by NAMI Kansas related to any grants and other funding award requirements that benefit NAMI Golden Plains Kansas.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Able to operate a computer, printer, telephone, fax machine and photocopier

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Preferred: Master level degree student with experience in areas relevant to essential functions

Accepted: Senior level undergrad student with experience in areas relevant to essential functions

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITY:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously

High degree of computer literacy, including proficiency in an advanced Windows environment, experience with databases, word processing, spreadsheets and publishing software. Strong working knowledge of the Internet, social media and marketing.

Ability to relate to, work, and communicate with people from various socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds in a consistently professional manner, to handle sensitive constituent issues with discretion and tact, and to be conscientious and respectful of individuals living with mental illness and their family members.

Ability to consistently meet deadlines and work under pressure

Ability to focus on details and to be a self-starter

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
