Mortgage Lender

Classification Exempt
Reports to Chief Operating Officer

Summary/Objective
The Mortgage Lender is responsible for continually identifying, developing and maintaining a quality network of business relationships that serves as a recurring source of referrals for new mortgage lending opportunities. A Mortgage Lender’s network may consist of real estate professionals, builders, professional and personal contacts, as well as other valuable referral sources, and is enhanced by the mortgage loan officer’s regular participation in business related development opportunities & community efforts.

Primary Functions
1. Prospects for new mortgage lending opportunities, both internally and externally.
2. Responds to referrals.
3. Maximizes personal productivity. Has the desire to maximize personal productivity through self- marketing, self-motivation and bank budget goals.
4. Dedicates time developing (prospecting/hunting) a network of referral source relationships of realtors, builders and others that can refer those with mortgage financing needs.
5. Completes mortgage applications for submission to the loan processing and underwriting departments.
6. Evaluates loan requests, analyzes financial data and determines qualification of collateral and customer credit history.
7. Maintains contact with loan customers, communicating progress of loan and obtaining any required documentation.
8. Actively participates in opportunities to expand knowledge of new loan programs/types, investor specials and other mortgage financial products.
9. Manages all aspects of an assigned portfolio of loans and relationships.
10. Complies with acceptable lending practices and state and federal regulations.
11. Handles customer service matters and inquiries for lending and non-lending issues.
12. Monthly production volume of $1,500,000.

Secondary Functions
1. Provides informal training and guidance for less experienced originators.
2. Participates in community activities and organizations.
3. Refers appropriate banking opportunities to other departments and personnel.
4. Cross sells all company products and services.
5. Willingly accepts and performs all assigned duties and responsibilities.

Supervisory Responsibility
Generally, this position does not have direct supervisory responsibility but may play informally supervise and guide junior Mortgage Originators in the bank and may play a role in prioritizing the work load for a number of support positions including processors.

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and fax machines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This is a largely sedentary role, requiring use of typical office equipment such as a computer and phone; however, occasional bending, stooping, and stretching may be required as well as the ability to lift up to 10 pounds. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel
Minimal travel is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience
1. High School Diploma or GED (education should be sufficient for conducting business).
2. 5+ years Mortgage Origination experience.
3. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, and other necessary software for efficiency.
4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and have the ability to build relationships.
5. Ability to handle multiple tasks.
6. Performs other duties as assigned.

Preferred Education and Experience
1. Bachelor of Science Degree in business, finance, accounting, related field, or 5 years of related experience.
2. Work experience in banking and finance of a minimum of three years or equivalent experience.
3. Ellie Mae Encompass experience.
