The Medical Student Wellness Program (MSWP) with the Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine fosters the emotional and physical well-being of medical students, as well as provides free, timely, and confidential services to medical students.
The Social Worker provides individual and family/couples therapy, and group support to medical students and their significant others; participates in interdisciplinary treatment planning by participating in weekly clinical staffings with MSWP clinical team and developing comprehensive psychosocial assessments, treatment plans, and crisis intervention consultation when necessary for assigned caseload. This position has a special focus on working with marginalized student populations including Black, Indigenous, and People of Color.
While providing evidence-based mental health treatment and completing timely and accurate medical records is an essential function, services offered through this program are independent of any insurance involvement.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities include clinical documentation with EMR (electronic medical record) intake assessments, individual and group therapy, crisis prevention and response, outreach, consultation, and collaboration with campus partners, and coordinating services specifically designed within Educational Quality Improvement.
  • Attend weekly intern group supervision if supervising
  • Attend weekly supervision if unlicensed
  • Attend weekly student affairs meetings and MSWP team meetings.
  • Attend monthly MSWP (Medical Student Wellness Program) all team and resident team meetings.
  • Engage in MSWP outreach opportunities
  • Significant focus on Anti-Racism Commission and Educational Quality Improvement initiatives within and supported by collaborators in the School of Medicine, Health Sciences, and Main Campus.
  • Collaboration with the Program Manager in policy advocacy and DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) efforts within MSWP and SOM (School of Medicine)
  • Maintain a clinical caseload that would accommodate students varying schedules with at least two evenings a week, allowing for in-person and telehealth sessions depending on caseload need. Flexibility and autonomy are supported for clinical responsibilities.
  • Supervisor to 1-2 pre-licensed social workers and co-facilitator of group supervision to practicum students if licensed

Minimum Qualifications
Current Licensed Clinical Social Worker (L.C.S.W.) certificate for clinical practice in the State of Utah.
Current license to practice as a Certified Social Worker in the State of Utah.
Required:
Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements.
