The Summit Medical Group is seeking a Medical Records Coordinator to assist in the retrieval of patient medical records from recent discharging facilities using hospital electronic portals, fax, and telephone requests. Electronic filing of patient discharge records into the patient’s electronic medical record (EMR). This is a full-time position.

About Our Career Opportunity
The Summit Medical Group is seeking a Medical Records Coordinator to assist in the retrieval of patient medical records from recent discharging facilities using hospital electronic portals, fax, and telephone requests. Electronic filing of patient discharge records into the patient’s electronic medical record (EMR). This is a full-time position.
Reviews discharge notifications for all Summit Medicare Advantage patients- Maintain a list of patients needing records and discharging facilities as well as date of notification.
- Contact facilities directly for records as needed.
- Access hospital EHR systems and East Tennessee Health Information (etHIN) portal.
- Retrieve, sort, and scan faxed medical records.
- Electronically stores patient’s discharge record in their electronic medical record under clinical documents using correct labels.
- Keeps providers informed of the availability of requested records.
- Verifies reports have accurate information, makes changes as needed.
- Sorts, and scans in a timely manner into EHR.
- Performs duties in a professional manner while exhibiting a courteous and cooperative demeanor with facilities, practices, providers, and practice staff as well as co-workers.
- Attends meetings as required.
- Actively participates in site-level Quality Improvement Activities. Each Employee will contribute to the continual evaluation site performance as well as the implementation and measurement of improvement activities that increase the quality of care provided to patients.
- Adheres to expectations of the established corporate compliance plan.
- Maintains strictest confidentiality both internally and externally.
- Participates in reporting and tracking for quality metrics and process improvement
- Performs related work as assigned.
Qualifications:
Experience: Preference to individuals with strong technical skills in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
Certification/License: None.
