Wake County Health and Human Services (WCHHS) seek a Medical Director who exhibits personal resilience, integrity, honesty, and openness. A successful candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people from staff to patients and the public. A successful candidate will have at least five years of experience in executive level Public health direction, five years as a practicing Medical Doctor, and is a passionate champion of health and wellbeing for Wake County residents.

Essential Functions include:

  • Fulfills the functions of Medical Director for Wake County Health and Human Services Public Health Services Division.
  • Supports the Health Director through alignment of public health and clinical service operations with the goals of the Health & Human Services Department, the County, the Board of Commissioner goals, and state and federal mandates.

The Medical Director is responsible for development and evaluation of standard of medical care throughout the division, providing medical direction to clinical staff, and advising the division in matters of medical policy.

  • Acts as the primary physician for public health clinical services.
  • Provides medical orders and standards of practice for clinical activities across the Public Health Services Division.
  • Works closely with the medical community to advance the mission of Public Health.
  • Acts as a leader during all emergency operations events in the county that impact the overall health and well-being of the county.
  • Serves and acts as part of the Executive Leadership Team for the Public Health Services Division. Serves as the medical spokesperson as needed.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of five years of post-residency experience, with at least three years of supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of Public Health Policies
  • Previous experience working in a fast paced environment, being flexible and adaptable
  • Demonstrated strength in strategic thinking related to public health and health equity
  • Required Licensures or Certifications: Medical licensure/certification in specialist field, North Carolina Medical Board licensure, DEA registration, and NC class C driver’s license.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $183,288.00 - $256,603.00 per year
