Job Requirements:
- In-depth knowledge of CAD usage and best-practices
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field or Associate degree and equivalent experience
- 2+ years Autodesk Inventor Experience
Job Preferences
- Industrial Machine Design 3D Model Experience
- Experience with Simulation Software
- Experience with Autodesk FDU tools
- 1-3 years’ experience working in or with large Manufacturing facilities
Job Duties:
- The Mechanical Design Engineer/Support Specialist position focuses on the documentation, illustration, and digital modeling of engineering designs and processes. Responsibilities typically include developing designs and drawing packages for mechanical components and assemblies for heavy manufacturing plans, adhering to standards and industry best practices. They will work with Corporate and Plant Engineering Teams on projects ranging from large Capital Projects down to small request made of the Team. Problems faced may be difficult and complex.
- Creates and manages technical/functional specifications, budget adherence, automation/continuous improvement of processes, and cost/efficiency requirements
- Assesses engineering requirements and translates into technical blueprints, drawings, layouts, and simulation models using CAD/CAM/CAE software or applying standard CAD/CAM/CAE techniques to digitize, edit, and revise engineering drawings of components, parts, and assemblies
- Creates digital proto-types and conducts design simulations for purposes of verifying reliability/safety and optimizing engineering processes
- Collaborates with product/manufacturing process engineers by recommending changes to component designs based on outcomes of digital proto-typing and design simulations
- Adherence to industry “best practices” regarding digital technologies (as they relate to ACADE, Inventor, or Vault)
- Performs Simulations of Machine Designs (FEA, CFD, Discrete Event, etc.)
- Visit plants to study processes, consult with personnel, and make recommendations
- May provide materials lists and cost estimates
