We’re now seeking a market research analyst to join the collaborative team in our Alexandria, VA office.
The Research Analyst will be responsible for the translation of data into insights, and formulation of the insight narrative to support strategic planning and client decision-making. This role will lead market research and corresponding insights. You will be responsible for studying industries and market conditions, employing primary and secondary research methods – including, but not limited to, persona and buyer journey mapping, competitive and market research, financial model analysis, focus groups and feasibility studies. Within this role, you will uncover critical insights and develop strategic recommendations, ultimately driving business value for member-based organizations, and generating growth for mdg.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth market research and analysis to identify trends, audience needs, competitor activity and opportunities for growth
- Analyze and interpret research data, synthesize findings, and provide insights to stakeholders via reports and presentations
- Use data and analytics tools to create reports and visualizations that clearly communicate insights
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support market research initiatives and provide input on strategy
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends and developments to ensure client strategies are well-informed and positioned for success
- Apply strategic thinking to solve client business and marketing problems
- Lead and/or support IDI primary research including focus groups and interviews (either in person or phone/Zoom based)
- Play a key role in client persona development and buyer journey mapping process, specifically leading primary and secondary research elements
- Synthesize large amounts of discovery information and succinctly surface key insights
- Attend trade shows that could include interviewing of attendees as well as managing and training of outsourced interviewers
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, business, economics, or other relevant field, or equivalent combination
- Minimum 5-7 years of professional experience
- Familiarity with B2B market research methodologies and best practices, association or events industry experience preferred.
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office Products – Word, PowerPoint, and Excel in particular
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Passion for uncovering insights and using them to drive business decisions
