Plant Management
POSITION SUMMARY
Drive equipment and process research and development, design, manufacture, installation and commission machines and processes. Serve as the Great Northern Laminations knowledge expert in process development and standardization with a focus on productivity and quality improvement, waste reduction, ergonomics, and safety.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ARE INCLUDED BELOW. OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED.
1. Be accountable for the scope, schedule, and budget of projects. Lead and / or participate in project management.
2. Optimize existing equipment and processes through augmentation or other means.
3. Evaluate manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs.
4. Apply sound engineering principles to conduct experiments, analyze data and interpret results.
5. Solicit ideas and observations from operations team members.
6. Ensure that work processes are safe and address safety concerns.
7. Provide input and research for the continuous improvement of equipment and processes.
8. Improve efficiency by analyzing and planning workflows, space requirements, and layouts.
9. Establish supplier relationships and source equipment and critical components.
10. Conduct factory acceptance trials (F.A.T.’s) on new equipment and sub-systems.
11. Lead the installation and commission of new equipment.
12. Design and implement innovative processes that reduce waste and address production issues.
13. Ensure system and product quality by testing system capabilities.
14. Evaluate quality control processes and make recommendations for improvements.
15. Catalog multisite capabilities and strive for common equipment, processes, and components.
16. Complete projects by training and guiding technicians and machine operators.
17. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
18. Maintain company reputation by complying with government regulations and living by the core values.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Proven working experience in manufacturing, industrial or process engineering.
2. Working experience with analysis tools such as design of experiments (DOE), process failure mode effect analysis (PFMEA) and others as applicable.
3. Direct experience with computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) and computer-aided design (CAD).
4. Knowledge of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods and tool design.
5. Familiarity with manufacturing equipment and quality assurance techniques
6. Creativity and analytical skills
7. Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner.
8. Technical writing skills
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in Manufacturing, Industrial or Process Engineering and a minimum of 3 years of experience. Experience in paper converting process and mechanical system design and development is preferred. Must have the ability to perform mathematical calculations, follow written, verbal or diagrammatic instructions or blueprints; have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, ability to delegate when appropriate; ability to: plan, prioritize and organize work effectively; work effectively under pressure and deadlines; determine root cause of problems, propose reasonable solutions, make logical decisions, carry out decisions made and follow up with feedback where appropriate.
