Maintenance Mechanic Job at Sonoco
Position: Maintenance Mechanic I, II, III
Location: Franklin Park, IL
Shift: 6pm-6am Rotating Schedule -12 hour shifts, 3 days one week, 4 days the following, off every other weekend
Wage: $21.21 - $30.40/hour based on experience
Night shift differential $0.75/hour
Job Duties
- The Maintenance Mechanic must possess the desire and ability to maintain and repair all plant equipment.
- Ensure successful maintenance and repair of plant machinery and supporting projects within the plant.
- Understanding and experience in preventive maintenance.
- Maintain machinery and the adjacent workplace in a state of appropriate cleanliness; create and maintain a schedule for inspection, service and testing of machinery.
- Usage of a CMMS to schedule and perform routine preventative maintenance and service for each piece of equipment.
- Read and comply with work orders concerning service, modification or installation of machinery.
- Supports all safety practices and procedures.
- Creates Purchase requisitions for replacement parts.
- Completes all necessary documentation.
Requirements
- 3+ years in an industrial environment, troubleshooting, repairing, and/or installing manufacturing equipment, including pneumatic and/or hydraulic equipment, and rotating equipment (driven shafts, blowers, fans).
- Experience in extrusion, injection molding, or thermoforming manufacturing operations preferred.
- Experience with machine shop equipment and welding.
- Ability to handle multiple projects/responsibilities at same time.
- Education: Associates Degree or higher in technical field of study preferred (mechanical/electrical/industrial technology).
