The Department of General Services has an immediate opening for MAIL SERVICES MANAGER
The Mail Services Manager will plan, organize and direct central processing and distribution of inter-office and U.S. mail in addition to supervising the work of mail service center personnel. The Mail Services Division provides complete mailing services to all County departments. Services include processing of outgoing mail and management of the County's interoffice mail delivery network. County of San Diego departments mail in excess of 8.6 million pieces annually and interoffice mail services are provided to 340 county offices daily.

INTERVIEWS
Interviews will take place the week of December 19, 2023 . Job offers for selected candidates will be made shortly after the interviews. Candidates should be prepared to immediately complete background paperwork, upon receipt of a job offer.The timeline for this recruitment is outlined below. Please note that dates are approximate and are dependent upon the successful completion of each step of the process.
- Job Offer and Background Process begins: Shortly after interviews.
- Pre-employment Medical Screening: Approximately 3 days following successful background investigation results.
- Anticipated Start Date: Start date will be based upon successful completion of background or other mutually agreed upon date
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Three (3) years of experience in a lead/supervisory role in a central mail distribution center of an organization servicing more than 10,000 employees and/or processing a minimum of five million pieces of U.S. mail annually from customer pick-up for maximum automation discounts; OR,
- Three (3) years of experience in the United States Postal Service which included lead/supervisory responsibility for a major mail function or service; OR,
- Two (2) years of experience as a Mail Systems Supervisor with the County of San Diego
A valid California Class C driver's license, which must be maintained throughout employment in this class, is required at time of appointment, or the ability to arrange necessary and timely transportation for field travel. Employees in this class may be required to use their own vehicle.

Qualified applicants will be placed on a nine (9) month employment list based on scores received during the evaluation of information contained in their employment application and supplemental application questionnaire.
