Restaurant Line Cook and Prep Cook Job Description $14- $16/hr PT/FT

Wister’s Bar and Grill is a new restaurant looking to hire multiple new line cooks and prep cooks. The cooks will be responsible for preparing chef created dishes for our guests. Duties will include prepping meals by weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients. Cooking meals. Checking ingredients for freshness. Plating and garnishing the dishes. As a cook, you will also be in charge of ensuring that the kitchen and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained.

To be successful in this job, you will need thorough experience with hot and cold food preparation. Culinary school education is preferred, but not mandatory. Prior experience in a related position is an advantage.

Restaurant Cooks Responsibilities Include, but not limited to:

• Steam, grill, boil, bake or fry meats, fish, vegetable, and other ingredients. \u2028
• Check food and ingredients for freshness. \u2028

• Work will under pressure and within time constraints. \u2028
• Ensure that the kitchen area, equipment, and utensils are clean and sanitized. \u2028
• Help lead and inspire the rest of the kitchen team. \u2028
• Wow our quests with flavorful and beautiful dishes \u2028
• Night, Weekend, and Holiday hours are required \u2028

Requirements:

Restaurant Cook Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent \u2028
• Culinary school 2–4-year degree, foreign equivalency, or equivalent restaurant experience \u2028
• Prior experience in related food and beverage service and food preparation positions \u2028
• Thorough experience with hot and cold food preparation \u2028
• Good working knowledge of accepted sanitation standards and health code requirements \u2028
• Must have valid Texas food manager or food handler certification, or have the ability to obtain certification within 60 days of hire date \u2028
• Ability to use slicers, mixers, grinders, food processors, and other kitchen equipment \u2028
• Able to handle work in a fast-paced environment \u2028
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds\u2028
