DESCRIPTION: The Job Coach works as part of a team to support students at their internships. The Job Coach assists students with choosing internships, completing applications, practicing interview skills, teaching job skills, creating visuals and transporting students to and from the internship site. The Job Coach also collaborates with other team members to provide a variety of transition events, such as our Career Fair.
FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create job postings and orientation materials using technology.
  • Create visual support for students and assist students with applications for internships.
  • Transport students to job sites and support students on the job site.
  • Communicate weekly with employers to get feedback for written work evaluations and meet with students to review progress.
  • Help students create a portfolio and resume of their work experiences.
  • Meet biweekly with the Transition Coordinator and transition department to discuss needs, highlights and plan and carry out transition events (ex. Career Fair).

**Required to drive students.
Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Job Coach or experience in an employment training program is preferred.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in education, human services or transition preferred.
  • CESP (Certified Employment Support Professional) Certification is preferred.
  • A minimum of conversational fluency in American Sign Language is required, with native, or near-native ASL fluency preferred.
  • Ability to work independently under general supervision.
  • Valid driver’s license.
