Your Role With Us:

Intake Coordinators are responsible for triaging and managing incoming patient referrals and health-care provider requests; processing and directing patient referrals to appropriate staff; candidates will act as the main resource for all patient and health-care providers for all non-nursing needs.

Core Functions:

  • Develop and maintain system to track incoming referral volume and other SCI metrics. Enters complete and accurate information into EPIC. Demonstrates understanding and skill in the use of current software and programs.
  • Receives and documents patient referral information, assists CSS team in assessing appropriate needs of each patient. Effectively identifies and processes urgent patients. Assists patients with resources; transportation, dental, pantry, and other.
  • Consistently handles calls proportionally to staffing levels and department needs. Routinely accesses scheduled order work queue and routes to appropriate CSS team member.
  • Provides excellent service to internal and external customers. Demonstrates empathetic, helpful and courteous behavior to all customers. Exhibits ability to express appreciation of the customer’s unique needs.
  • Assists in providing clerical and logistical support to the CSS Supervisor and team. Coordinates daily activities, organizes and maintains departmental files, staff calendar, scheduling staff meetings, completes letter mailings.

Background/Expertise:

  • High School diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience working in medical environment required; Experience with insurance pre-authorization, billing and coding preferred.
  • Knowledgeable of both manual and computer tracking of scheduling systems preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and successfully handle multiple and changing priorities.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and GroupWise, working knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Strong communications, interpersonal, organizational, and customer service orientation.
  • Capable of gathering and reporting statistical data.
