Audubon is currently seeking an Instrument Engineer to join our project team working onsite at a client's plant in Chalmette, LA. The Instrument Engineer will perform instrument engineering assignments associated with designing equipment, components, structures or systems.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key Areas of Responsibility will include:
- Preparing specifications for project assignments detailing client performance requirements, specific component needs, design requirements, applicable design codes, and vendor drawing.
- Setting realistic expectations and ensuring assigned projects are completed according to schedule and within budget.
- Adhering to safe design practices, while focusing on identifying cost saving opportunities.
- Managing workload, budgets and project resources, requesting assistance as necessary.
- Developing, reviewing and/or approving conceptual and detailed engineering design packages.
- Assisting in the development of internal design guidelines, specifications, and design control procedures.
- Interacting with drafting/design group to develop and review engineering drawings.
- Visiting job-sites to evaluate site, project requirements, and conditions.
- Resolving project design issues.
- Compiling discipline-specific man-hour estimates and Total Installed Cost estimates based on client provided project scope.
- Managing and forecasting man-hour requirements and schedules associated with discipline-specific project scope.
- May lead small scope projects and manage day-to-day workflow within a group or project; may delegate assignments, distribute workload, establish work deadlines, and issue reports to immediate supervisor regarding completion of work.
- Responsible for providing feedback to immediate supervisor regarding co-worker's performance and any work related issues, including those that might lead to disciplinary actions.
- Providing advice and assistance on work techniques, best practices, and subject matter expertise to co-workers.
- Additional duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for the position:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
- Bachelor's Degree from ABET Accredited Institution.
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Field experience.
- 5+ years of experience.
- Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI), Control Valve Sizing, Meter Sizing and Relief Valve Sizing software experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of the design of instrumented control and safety systems.
- Working knowledge of instrument and electrical design codes (ISA, NEC, API, etc.).
