Kent Denver’s Office of Innovation has an opening for a full-time Innovation Resident to join our team. This full-time one or two-year residency is designed for those interested in offering their passion, ideas, and expertise to advance education. The resident will gain experience and mentorship in many facets of innovation in a school environment, including data management, strategic project management, mentoring students and faculty, curating and visualizing data, and understanding the use and impact of scheduling in a school. In addition, the resident will participate in the supervision of innovation spaces and mentor our community in the use of innovation mindsets, tools, and competencies. These opportunities will prepare the resident for a career supporting and leading innovation in an educational context.


Operations (30%)

The resident will gain experience in operations by executing tasks in a number of areas of innovation, including:

  • Support innovation finances through the collection and processing of team receipts, credit cards, and internal budgeting operations
  • Monitor the innovation ticket system
  • Event operations for innovation programming, including two innovation symposiums around student-directed learning
  • Maintain and process independent study paperwork
  • Liaise with Communications to promote innovation events, opportunities, and successes.
  • Support data and inventory needs for the student “Bogue Cafe,” as needed
  • Administrative support for the Chief Innovation Officer as needed.


Data Management (30%)

The resident will gain experience in data management through work with several innovation projects. Projects for the 2023-2024 school year likely include work in the following areas:


Scheduling

  • The implementation of new event management software
  • The creation of the yearly institutional calendar
  • The timeline for the yearly academic scheduling process


Database for Innovation Opportunities & Partnership Curation

  • Curated calendar of internal and external student opportunities and educational innovation opportunities
  • Curated database of industry partners who work with our community


Innovation Portfolio Dashboards

  • Manage and grow dashboards that represent metrics in Kent Denver’s innovation portfolio


Support for Institutional Project Management (20%)

The resident will gain exposure to conversations and tasks around institutional strategy by supporting the Chief Innovation and Information Officer with institutional projects.

Projects for the 2023-2024 school year likely include:


  • Schedule re-design and implementation for a new 2024-2025 schedule
  • Implementation of an innovation project pipeline for our faculty and staff
  • Curation of data and creation of visualizations for Kent Denver strategic and institutional initiatives


Supervision of Spaces & Mentoring Students & Educators (20%)

The resident will gain experience in teaching innovation tools and mindsets through the supervision of innovation spaces and mentoring of the Kent Denver community, including:


  • Supervise students managing Bogue Cafe, our student-run cafe
  • Supervise students and educational professionals using the Impact Studios
  • Supervise pass/fail Innovation Workshops, Independent Studies and / or clubs in areas of innovation expertise.
  • Run innovation training and workshops for faculty and staff in areas of innovation expertise.
  • Additionally, an opportunity to teach a section of coursework may be available as part of the residency, given resident qualifications and institutional needs.


Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have qualifications that include:

  • A bachelor's degree in education, business, design, engineering, or a related field (preferred)
  • Ability to identify opportunities to proactively streamline processes, solve problems, organize ideas, and customize solutions that benefit community members.
  • Ability to appropriately handle confidential information
  • Ability to meaningfully receive, reflect on and apply feedback to one’s professional growth.
  • Ability to thrive working as a member of a team
  • The ability to articulate the value of innovation to an education
  • Ability to teach and mentor teenage students and enthusiastically recruit students to innovation programming
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person and in writing with students, colleagues, and parents.

Salary:

$28,000 + campus housing and benefits


Other Employment Info:

Work hours for this position are 7:30am-4:00pm, Monday through Friday with occasional evening, night, and/or weekend work. In addition to a generous benefits package including retirement, health, dental, and professional development, this position receives 6 weeks vacation (taken in June and July), 1 week for Thanksgiving Break, 2 weeks for Winter Break, 1 week for Spring Break, all other school holidays, 3 personal days, and 9 sick days.
