Position Overview:

The Industrial Engineer (with focus on Maintenance) is a hands-on technical role that is critical in leading reliability efforts in collaboration with cross-functional teams across multiple shifts to contribute the highest levels of safety, quality, and operational efficiency in the production of grain-based food and alcohol products. The Industrial Engineer (with focus on Maintenance) position will provide broad technical expertise for increased contributions to the organization for enhanced production flexibility and readiness in conjunction with experiencing personal development opportunities for growth.

This role also is exempt working a general Monday-Friday day shift with expectations for flexibility for business needs.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Commitment to support production through plant technical expertise; the Reliability Engineer will be responsible for developing continuous improvement solutions, assist in process troubleshooting, equipment reliability and project management. This position is integral to assist cross-functional teams to produce a high-quality product on time to our customers' specifications and expectations.
  • Attend and conduct team member meetings to discuss plant needs and troubleshoot production issues as related to reliability.
  • Lead meetings and support all Root Cause Analysis activities and insures timely corrective actions and closures of any findings related to reliability.
  • Embrace and use technology to drive more efficient operation of systems and processes.
  • Review key plant metrics and confer with technical or administrative staff including Production or Plant Manager to resolve production or processing problems related to reliability.
  • Support of the OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) system to capture, analyze and report on operational efficiency losses in uptime, rate, quality, and yield.
  • Successfully work within cross-functional teams to improve process systems to ensure customer satisfaction and to optimize operations to meet company goals.
  • Analyze equipment and processes in relation to design or specifications and provide suggestions to increase reliability and efficiencies.
  • Provide Six Sigma methodology and technical support to projects; help identify production bottlenecks and resolutions utilizing lean methodologies for continuous improvement.
  • Assist in Design for Reliability for new equipment and processes.


What we are looking for:

  • A bachelor's degree in industrial engineering preferred.
  • Hands on experience in an industrial manufacturing environment required. Experience in a similar grain & alcohol manufacturing environment highly desired.
  • Desired 5 years of progressive engineering experience working with manufacturing teams successfully leading engineering projects including demonstration of excellent interpersonal skills including communication, informal leadership, training production and maintenance personnel, and project management; willingness to seek continuing education toward development of leadership abilities.
  • Strong technical skills including experience in R&D, capital project management, lean manufacturing, hands on troubleshooting, preventative maintenance programs, pneumatic conveyance, air handling systems (filtration).
  • Experience successfully using Six Sigma and lean methodologies; green belt certification desired.
  • Experience with change management and engagement work processes to drive effective implementation of improvement initiatives.
  • Advanced computer competency required including typing, web browser, Microsoft Office, and AutoCad; competency of CMMS software or ability to learn required.
  • Experience in using data to drive engineering projects and improvements coupled with strong knowledge of manufacturing processes is required.
