Duties

The Human Resources Information System Specialist (HRIS) duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Generates Human Resources reports, including turnover, headcount, recruiting, organization charts, and other key metrics to drive organizational effectiveness.
  • Serves as the point of contact to ensure proper utilization of the HR automated systems and provide guidance to end-users.
  • Conducts needs analysis of training in order to assist in advising, developing and training on HRIS systems functionality, capabilities and usage.
  • Supports the HRIS Manager with maintaining position data and position control to ensure level of authorized position number and setup are accurate in the system of record.
  • Creates and deploys web-based and online trainings.
  • Assists the HRIS Manager with audits to ensure the quality and integrity of personnel data.
  • Possesses the ability to communicate effectively both written and orally to present technical material to a varied audience.
  • Utilizes analytical techniques and evaluation criteria to recommend improvements to increase effectiveness and/or productivity within the HRIS Unit.
  • Maintains HR Intranet website.

All employees who have not received the required number of vaccination doses, regardless of the reason or whether the employee has sought or been granted an exemption, will be required to submit a negative COVID-19 test result on a weekly basis in order to report to work in person or remotely.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree plus three (3) years of experience in Human Resources providing operational support to managers and employees in one or more HR functional areas; employing HR best practices, applied knowledge of regulations, policies, and procedures related to the support of a comprehensive human resource management program, including at least two (2) years of specialized experience working with integrated Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) that included capabilities such as electronic maintenance of employee personnel records, processing personnel actions, position control, and applicant tracking.

Attention to detail, time management, and the ability to multi-task are critical in this role.

Must be a creative self-starter able to efficiently utilize available resources and software to create reports and disseminate deliverables

Must be adept at utilizing Microsoft Office Suite to enhance and improve business processes and deliverables.

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (i.e. Pivot tables, vlookup and data visualization).

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Access (i.e. designing forms and reports from joining tables; creating and managing databases)

Preferred Experience:

  • An advanced degree
  • Experience with Business Intelligence Tools
  • Experience with Workforce Transformation Tracking System (WTTS)
  • Experience with Federal Personnel Payroll System (FPPS)
  • Data mining and report writing
  • Federal Human Resources experience in benefits, payroll and/or processing

Employees can carry over no more than 240 hours of annual leave into the next leave year.

    Sick Leave is used for personal medical needs, care of a family member, or adoption related purposes. Full-time employees earn four(4)hours of sick leave biweekly. This leave can be accrued without limit.

    In addition to the federal health plans, the DC Courts offer employees supplemental vision and dental plans as well as a commuter transit benefit subsidy, for a maximum of $150 a month. There are 26 pay periods in the year.
