Overview: The HR Manager role understands business priorities, translates them into talent initiatives, and develops practical solutions to meet the evolving needs of Ohio’s growing business, aligned with the region’s culture and processes. The position is a partner to Regional HR and local business leadership teams, and a resource for local HR colleagues, bringing insight, an independent viewpoint and expertise to talent issues affecting the business. The position collaborates with and leverages resources across the organization, while taking a hands-on approach to supporting the business.
Responsibilities: ORGANIZATION DEVELOPMENT

  • Partners with key stakeholders in HR and the business to facilitate the integration of Talent programs and processes.
  • Communicates project status, issues, and meets deadlines for key decisions throughout the integration process
  • Gathers and evaluates data, information, and feedback for the organization to assess and identify needs that will enhance the employee experience, culture, and overall performance of the organization

TALENT MANAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT

  • Shares talent metrics with assigned leadership teams on a regular basis, using the data to facilitate discussions that may identify potential talent issues
  • Supports management teams and employees in addressing talent issues by leveraging appropriate tools and processes. Functions as an expert resource based on broad knowledge and experience in Human Resources and culture or organizational change
  • Creates and shares talent best practices with clients across the organization, to ensure proactive development and retention of top performers
  • Assists in creating and supporting professional development plans for employees and managers within assigned client groups

EMPLOYEE RELATIONS

  • Acts as first point of contact for coaching managers, supervisors, and other HR team members on employee issues
  • Facilitates effective communications between managers and staff to drive talent programs that positively impact employee productivity, such as performance management, goal planning and employee engagement
  • Ensures that all employee issues are handled in a manner that’s consistent with our culture and employment brand: with consistency, fairness, compassion and without discrimination
  • Facilitates management training to provide ongoing coaching and development to company managers, supervisors, and employees

EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT

  • Analyzes and presents employee engagement data trends. Collaborates with business and other HR stakeholders to review quantitative and qualitative feedback
  • Designs, implements, and shares best practices in engagement action planning with other teams
  • Actively engages in associations and industry events as a leader in human resources best practices and building a best place to work culture
  • *BUILDS AND DEVELOPS AN EFFECTIVE TEAM
  • Serves as a role model by consistently following talent management and development processes and tools
  • Builds strong working relationships across the region by exhibiting MMA’s Values and Assurance’s best and brightest characteristics
  • Provides leadership for the HR team through effective communication, coaching and development
  • Communicates with team members through regular 1-1 and team meetings, including information on company updates, team performance, and other information relevant to their roles
  • Coaches HR team by providing methods and resources to finding answers when appropriate

Qualifications: REQUIRED:

  • 5 or more years of broad HR management experience with specialized knowledge in employee relations, leadership coaching and change management. Demonstrated experience with project management or high-volume work, both strategic and tactical, managing competing priorities
  • 5 or more years of experience operating in environments with ambiguity, having a bias towards action, and able to gather and interpret data to make strategic decisions
  • Highly organized, flexible, and able to prioritize and work under pressure of managing multiple projects at the same time
  • Collaborative team player with a strong drive to create positive change through focus on the employee experience
  • Expert at influencing without authority and navigating complex stakeholder environments to drive results
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization
  • Must be solutions-focused, forward-thinking, and bring a positive vibe to influence change
  • Ability to travel locally, as needed

PREFERRED:

  • BS/BA in Human Resources, business, insurance or related field
  • SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP
  • Experience in mid-sized, growth organizations
  • HR Business Partner experience working with other HR CoEs
