Scope of the Position:

This position will partner with Advanced Optics (AO) Division Engineering to ensure the client group has the right number and type of talent required to execute the division strategy and achieve business success. Individual will work with Division Engineering Director to establish a positive work environment in a growing business which operates as One Corning in support of Corning Values. Assist in achieving budgetary objectives in support of top quartile performance objectives while maintaining appropriate level of HR service delivery. Scale the level of HR service provided to execute the business strategy and ensures successful implementation of global HR business processes.


Responsibilities:

  • Identifies and prioritizes current and future talent requirements to achieve operational objectives.
  • Partners with Division HR Manager and Division Engineering Director to implement a compelling employee value proposition to attract and retain talent.
  • Participate on the division HR team to cultivate a positive and productive work environment across all locations.
  • Address talent gaps, ensuring the division has the right people in the right place at the right time.
  • Partner with client group and employees to implement individual development plans and proactively grow & develop talent to reach full potential.
  • Effectively deploy performance management and rewards processes to drive required levels of employee accountability for desired performance results and ensure retention of top performers.
  • Partners with Division HR Manager and Division Engineering Leaders to identify the human capital priorities over the next one - two years and the level of support required from HR to effectively address these priorities.

Key Initiatives:

  • Work with Division Engineering Director and staff to develop and deploy Competency Heatmap assessment and diagnostic to inventory current state skill level and compare to future state needs
  • Develop workforce development plan in conjunction with division growth in Semiconductor space
  • Partner with Government Affairs and division cross functional team to identify, establish, and operate strategic partnership with various schools identified as part of CHIPS act to recruit/develop the next generation of Engineering Talent.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, focus on Human Resources Management or Industrial/Labor relations preferred.
  • Master’s degree and HR certification, a plus.
  • Prior HR generalist experience as lead Plant HRM or for large global engineering group

Location and Travel Requirement:

  • Corning, NY or Fairport, NY work location
  • Travel up to 25% to Corning, NY Headquarters, Fairport, NY, Canton, NY, Keene, NH, Phoenix, Arizona sites.
  • International travel to France, Germany, Asia (Taiwan / China) may be required once per year
