JOB SUMMARY:

The role of Human Resources Generalist performs professional level human resources work and carries out responsibilities in one or more of the functional areas, such as, staffing, employee relations, compensation, training, employment and safety. This role carries out administrative work involving the human resources functions and maintains related records; develops and improves policies, programs and procedures to improve the effectiveness of HR and Operations. This person will analyze and provide advice to supervisors and managers on methods and approaches to resolve employee work issues.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide personnel policy and procedure guidance to employees and management.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal and state employment laws and compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate open enrollments, changes, and training for employee benefits programs.
  • Respond to human resources-related inquiries.
  • Assist with payroll processing.
  • Create and distribute internal communications regarding status changes, benefits, or company policies.
  • Lead HR initiatives at a plant level, including policy changes, team building activities, and community engagement.
  • Administer new employee onboarding and orientation.
  • Develop and maintain talent management processes.
  • Monitor employee morale and company culture.
  • Collaborate with the Human Resources team to develop effective recruitment strategies.
  • Identify current and future staffing needs.
  • Process complaints regarding sexual harassment, discrimination, or other instances of workplace harassment and assist in any necessary investigations and disciplinary actions.
  • Maintain employee personnel records.
  • Conduct exit interviews and recommend corrective action if necessary.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Human Resources field
  • Understanding of state and federal employment regulations
  • Awareness of OSHA regulations and compliance
  • Understanding of personnel and compliance records management
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

The HR Generalist will be trained on the proper policies and procedures for this position and should be functional within 12 weeks. Proficiencies will be reached within one year.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

· Manual Dexterity skills

· Standing on feet or sitting at a desk for long periods of time

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

Education: Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university is preferred. Experience: 3-5 years of Human Resources or similar work experience required. Grooming: All employees must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance per Franklin Foods standards.
