Position Details: $10,000 Sign on Bonus Full Time Weekend Option Nights Nursing Administration Des Peres Campus Description:
Plans, organizes, and directs the operation of Patient Care Services during evening, night, and weekend hours. Implements and interprets policies, procedures, standards, and regulations for nursing personnel, patients, medical staff, and the public. Oversees the operation of the hospital in the absence of hospital administrators.

Principle Accountabilities:
  • Provides supervision, leadership and guidance for nursing activities during assigned shift by making rounds to patient care areas, assisting nursing personnel in making appropriate decisions, and assisting with patient care as necessary.
  • Collaborates with support services to provide quality care and ensure a safe, clean and secure work environment for staff, patients and visitors.
  • Ensures that available staff is assigned to clinical areas in accordance with competencies as well as consideration of the Staffing and Scheduling Policy, and that adequate staff is available for the oncoming shift. Makes adjustments to staffing as necessary.
  • Provides placement/triage of patients so that all beds, rooms and equipment/supplies are effectively utilized according to established practice guidelines.
  • Oversees hospital operations in the absence of administration. Responds to emergency situations, assuming a charge position until the administrator arrives. Contacts the administrator on call as needed.
  • Communicates about any issues encountered during the shift with the appropriate hospital management in a timely manner.
  • Acts as a liaison between Patient Care Services and the medical staff, patients, families, and visitors as needed. Responds to complaints during the shift, and refers further follow-up to the appropriate colleague. Keeps Chief Nursing Officer informed of service issues.
  • Promotes professionalism and accountability in nursing personnel. Acts as an advocate for nursing personnel, patients and families; and counsels nursing personnel as necessary, reporting pertinent information to the appropriate director in a timely manner.
  • Participates in quality activities and on various committees as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education:
Associates in Nursing required. Bachelors in Nursing strongly preferred.
License - Certification - Registration (Text Only): Registered nurse in the State of Missouri. Experience:
Five years of clinical experience required.
Supervisory experience required.
Excellent oral/written communication skills to interact with patients, visitors and staff
Ability to recognize need for and alter communication with patients with communication impairments
Excellent interpersonal relations skills
Strong leadership skills
Excellent evaluation skills and assessment skills
Ability to recognize a need for and alter communication with patients with communication impairments
Ability to manage time, organize daily schedule to meet productivity standards, and cope with professional stress
