HMDA & CRA Compliance Specialist

Reports to
Compliance Manager

Primary Activities and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the tracking and analysis of lending data consistent with the requirements of Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) and Community Reinvestment Act (CRA).

  • Identify and review HMDA and CRA reportable applications across all business lines, in accordance with established policies and procedures, to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Confirm that all errors found during data integrity review are corrected.
  • Maintain geocoding on all HMDA and CRA reportable properties.
  • Create and maintain assessment area maps.
  • Provide location maps and reports for Community Development Officer.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with production and operations staff in order to resolve any inconsistencies in HMDA and CRA data and to recommend changes as needed to ensure the accuracy of the data.
  • Report any potential concerns about non-compliance with HMDA or CRA regulatory requirements to the Compliance Manager.
  • Assist Compliance Manager with HMDA and CRA submissions while ensuring the accuracy of Loan Application Registries (LARs).
  • Work with Compliance Manager on review of any internal or external HMDA and CRA audits, identifying systemic errors, coordination of training for staff as needed, and preparing response to said audits.
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of the requirements of the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act and Community Reinvestment Act.

Secondary Activities and Responsibilities:

  • Assists other departments with CRA and HMDA-related issues.
  • Willingly participates in all assigned duties and responsibilities.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school graduate or GED.
  • 3-5 years of experience in lending or lending operations.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, specifically Word and Excel.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to identify potential problems quickly and find effective resolutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and maintain order.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and fax machines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Travel
Minimal travel is expected for this position.
