POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for maximizing group revenue and profitability through the sales of lodging, catering, activities, etc. Reporting to the Director of Sales, this position will be responsible for achieving and exceeding revenue goals set in targeted market segments. Through effective building of client relationships and working with resort operations, deliver the highest level of guest service to client.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Grows existing accounts and generates new business in targeted market segment as identified by Sales Director. Develop and maintain good relationships with group leaders.
  • Work with Sales Director to develop and implement strategies to attract target market segments.
  • Negotiates room rates, meeting space rental, group activities, F&B and other resort offerings, within approved guidelines, with potential clients.
  • Prepare proposals and contracts for groups
  • Upon execution of contract, coordinate with F&B, IT, and other operational departments to ensure that all group requirements are met. This includes room blocks, rooming list, booking activities, etc. using the operational systems of the resort, i.e. Delphi, SMS, RTP, etc.
  • Follow up on business leads and referrals in a timely manner as well as organize site visits for potential clients.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate effectively and persuasively with clients. Must be self-motivated and organized.
  • Assist group while on property by meeting group leader upon arrival and checking in periodically to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Must be focused, confident, positive and maintain a professional demeanor.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of resort properties, products and activities and be able to skillfully articulate and present offerings to clients.
  • Responds promptly to group inquiries via email or phone.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong sales background including knowledge of sales philosophies.
  • Knowledge of Group & Conference sales systems. Delphi, RTP, Spring Miller Systems preferred.
  • Strong copywriting skills.
  • Ability to work under deadline pressure and handle many projects at once.
  • Self-starter, assertive, go-getter with high energy and desire to drive the business.
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability. Resourcefulness in solving problems.
  • Strong organizational skills. Keen attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Ability to build productive cross-functional relationships to support the strategic goals of the organization.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: 4-Year Degree with emphasis on Sales & Marketing preferred.
Experience: 4-6 Years of Progressive Hospitality Sales Experience.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Any Alterra employee or volunteer who operates a company vehicle including cars, trucks, snowcats, snowmobiles, or heavy equipment is required to comply with the Alterra Driver’s Standards Policy. This policy also applies to employees or volunteers driving their personal vehicles for company business more than four times per month, averaging 30+ miles per trip. All drivers should receive a full copy of the Alterra Driver’s Standards Policy; if you have not – please contact your Risk/Safety or HR/EE Department.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
This position may be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays.

Office Environment:

  • Able to lift, carry, or otherwise move and position a minimum of 20 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Manual dexterity to operate a computer and other common office equipment on a constant basis.
  • Auditory and visual acuity to operate computers, phones, mobile devices and basic office equipment on a constant basis.
  • Ability to work for extended periods of time sitting, bending, reaching, and speaking on a constant basis.
  • Ability to work for extended periods of time standing, walking, kneeling, pushing and pulling on an occasional basis.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.
