Full Time Case Worker - Samaritan Hospital, Crime Victims Services (PREA)

What you will do:
The Caseworker is responsible for providing services to victims/survivors of sexual violence, domestic violence, physical assault, stalking and other crimes. These services are also provided to secondary victims of crimes. Our clients are served from a trauma-informed treatment perspective. This position primarily works with incarcerated individuals who have experienced sexual trauma. Clients from the community and clients who contact our 24-hour hotline will also be served. Must have reliable transportation and a valid NYS license.
Responsibilities:
Provide direct, supportive services to victims/survivors of crime including but not limited to crisis intervention, advocacy, counseling, and NYS Office of Victim Services compensation assistance .
Work within a multi-disciplinary team during acute and emergent response which supports victims/survivors through a trauma-informed, victim-centered model
Provide support to primary on-call advocates
Assist with staffing the programs 24-hour hotline (minimum of 1 full weekend shift per month, with opportunity for weekday overnight shifts).
Overnight, weekend, and holiday availability required
What you will need:
A Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Criminal Justice, Human Services, or related field required.
Previous experience working with victims of crime and/or 24hr hotline services is highly preferred. Understanding and knowledge of social determinants of health preferred .
Must have reliable transportation to meet with clients at hospital locations, and to attend required monthly meetings.
Sexual Assault Counselor certification by the New York State Department of Health is required for this position to provide crisis intervention, victim advocacy, and counseling services. (Note - if the colleague does not already possess this certification, it will be provided by the program at no cost
