Position Description
Performs a variety of maintenance and repair work on City vehicles and equipment. Major Areas of Responsibility
Repairs steering, braking, hydraulic, electrical, lighting, air conditioning, suspension, and related system components of vehicle and equipment.
Sweeps, washes, paints, and repairs or replaces components on vehicles and equipment as directed.
Performs custodial work such as required and assigned.
Assists in setting up and taking down equipment for various programs, prepares facilities for use.
Must be able to provide own set of tools.
Other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience/Requirements
Graduation from a High School or GED equivalent.
Any equivalent combination of related education and experience.
Valid Driver"s license is required with the ability to obtain a CDL driver"s license Class A with air brakes within 60 days of start date.
Knowledge of equipment, materials and supplies used in vehicle and equipment maintenance; knowledge of equipment and supplies used to do major and minor repairs; some knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions.
Skill in operation of: Lawn and landscaping equipment, mowers, chain saws, edger"s, weed trimmers, miscellaneous hand and power tools for maintenance, painting, plumbing, and electrical work.
Ability to: work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule; lift heavy objects, walk, and stand for long periods of time, and to perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions; communicate orally and in writing; use equipment and tools properly and safely; understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions; establish effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and the public.

Must have close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. *

Frequently exposed to outside weather conditions to include frequent exposure to heat or cold, wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals.

Noise levels in the work environment is frequently loud.
