Corteva Agriscience has an exciting opportunity for a talented and motivated Field Scientist. The Field Scientist (FS) will coordinate day-to-day field research operations for trait and crop protection research projects at the Stoneville Research Center and off-site locations in the region. The FS will be expected to execute field experiments concurrently at multiple locations; collect, manage, and report data for the characterization and advancement of transgenic traits for maize, cotton and soybean, with a focus on insect, weed, and disease control traits. In addition, the FS will have responsibility for multidisciplinary research in crop protection (herbicide, insecticide, biological, fungicide), crop enhancement, and seed-applied technology in southern row crops.
Field Scientist – Job Responsibilities:
- The Field Scientist will coordinate the execution of research protocols across multiple locations at a Research Center and off-site locations. The FS will execute day-to-dayx activities to ensure high-quality data collection from field trials designed to characterize the efficacy and agronomics of lead pipeline or licensed pre-commercial transgenic traits, as well as transgenic events for insect and weed control traits. Other project areas include efficacy, crop safety and yield impact of other traits, crop protection, seed treatments and biological systems. The FS will aid in compliance activities for regulated transgenic research at the Research Center.
- Flawlessly execute experiments to completion, according to specific protocols, exercising independent judgment and discretion as appropriate. This includes, but is not limited to, the knowledge of general agronomic practices, herbicide application and evaluation procedures, crop scouting, implementation of new technologies, computer skills, and skills in experimental design and analysis. Use Corteva proprietary software for initiation, mapping, tracking and analysis of experiments, and communicate data and information as appropriate to all managers of experiments.
- Participates on cross-functional, multidisciplinary teams within Corteva charged with the planning, management and execution of advancement/development plans for pre-commercial transgenic events for agronomics, insect and disease control and herbicide tolerance in key crops.
- Communicate and work jointly with the Research Center team to ensure the success of all product development and research programs at that center.
- Responsible for continuously updating their own scientific/agronomic background in research areas relevant to transgenic trait characterization and development.
- Hire, orient and supervise employees, implementing and monitoring safe working practices.

Qualifications
What will You need as a Field Scientist:
- M.S. in biological sciences, including Agronomy, Entomology, Plant Pathology, Weed Science or related field. Ph.D. is preferred
- Three to Five (3-5) years of field research experience traits is preferred.
- Extensive understanding of the techniques and approaches associated with quality high-volume small plot crop research. Demonstrated knowledge and field research experience working with regulated transgenic materials is required.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, experience in managing research staff and a proven track record of operating in a complex team environment.
- Excellent computer, data management, statistical analysis, and data presentation skills are essential.
- Understanding of crop production and product needs for North American markets.
