Field Housing Inspector Job at Tetra Tech

Tetra Tech's Disaster Response Division is currently seeking a Field Housing Inspector throughout Puerto Rico. The successful candidate will have extraordinary attention to detail and be responsible for a variety of property assessments, including damage assessments and risk assessments.
This is a Section 3 eligible job opportunity. We encourage applications from individuals who are low income and/or living in Public Housing. Individual - CDBG (pr.gov).
Roles and Responsibilities:
Identify, document and photograph damages or loss of verifiable damage.
Identify, document and photograph potential risks to homes from future disasters.
Typing accurately, preparing and maintaining inspection documents and housing inspection reports.
Research, and track damage/risk inspections or documentation problems and discrepancies.
Provide assistance and support to Special Inspectors and other program personnel.
Daily enter key data of housing damage inspection in database.
Other duties, as assigned.
Report to a Project Lead and gain some exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.
Coordinate and participate in case meetings.
Maintain and track caseload and track in management information system.
Keep Project Lead informed on issues, problems & resolutions.
Superior customer service skill set, ability to listen, facilitate and negotiate problems.
Document damage/risks and input into database.
Complete required forms as directed.
Work with case management and intake specialist personnel as needed.
Follow procedures and maintain communication and focus.
Provide additional information upon request.
Qualifications:
2+ years of experience working as a Field Inspector.
Bachelor’s degree preferred; however, experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
Knowledge in one of the fields (construction, mechanical, structural/civil, electrical, and architectural) is preferred. (Engineer in training preferred).
Knowledge of and experience using Xactimate, RS Means or other similar system is preferred.
Prior experience performing inspections for disaster recovery program(s) preferred.
