Hours: 45 hours weekly, 7:30am to 5pm with flexibility
Report to: Farm Field Manager
Wage: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour depending on experience
Working with and under the direction of the Farm Field Manager, the Field Leader leads our Field Hand staff. The Farm Field Leaders are our core farm team that will be the stewards of our growing methods and systems. Farm Field Leaders embody the standards and essential skills of our farm. Leaders also instruct while working alongside the larger team of Farm Field Hands in order to meet the quality and production standards of our Farmstand.
Field Leaders may receive a specialization area to champion such as Alliums, Tomatoes, Greens, Root Vegetables, etc.
This is a higher paid position with greater expectations and more opportunities to learn about our farm and get a real understanding of our cropping systems.
For experienced farm workers only.
In our daily work, we:
- Are knowledgeable and passionate about farming as well as the soils and people that produce them.
- Assist in all aspects of crop production including: outside seasonal field production, year-round high tunnel production, and greenhouse production.
- Follow all established procedures, keep workers on task, ensure the crops are properly grown and harvested, and provide instructions/assistance when needed.
- Lead daily tasks, making sure that the team finishes each job accurately, efficiently, and safely according to each persons abilities.
- Able and willing to use a variety of tools and ensure that work areas, tools, vehicles and boxes are kept clean, tidy and well cared for.
