SUMMARY:

Through the continued guidance and supervision of the Sanitation supervisor, the Facility Sanitation Technician will configure and operate sanitation equipment in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. Read and interpret control sheets, worker manuals and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP’s) to clean and sanitize food contact surfaces. Adjusts machinery and equipment to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications, and in a timely fashion. Must be able to work effectively in a team-based environment, set priorities to meet deadlines, handle multiple tasks, and make decisions under pressure.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for all aspects of thorough cleaning and sanitation under the direction of the Sanitation Supervisor including following GMP’s in regards to equipment, machine and utensils.
  • Keep building, grounds and equipment in clean and orderly condition
  • Maintain cleanliness of walls and doors using scrub brushes, scrapers, squeegee, hand towels and pressure washers.
  • Ensure the safety of all employees.
  • Read and understand chemical labels.
  • Prepare production equipment for cleaning by locking out machinery and covering all electrical equipment with plastic.
  • Keep track of machine parts during cleaning and return them back in their proper locations.
  • Ensures the equipment, machinery, utensils and work areas are cleaned in a manner consistent with established requirements - validates sanitation effectiveness with visual inspection.
  • Economically use of cleaning and sanitizing chemicals and high/low pressure water hoses.
  • Complete all sanitation documentation paperwork accurately and on a timely basis.
  • Communicates with Manager and Supervisor regarding any sanitation concerns observed throughout shift.
  • Perform light to heavy cleaning duties using various equipment, machinery and utensils -- e.g. steam cleaner, floor machine, pressure washer, air compressor, pan washer.
  • Routine housekeeping of assigned work areas and adjacent areas.
  • Perform minor maintenance, as needed, with sanitation equipment repairs and/or adjustments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Wear protective gear, including gloves, face/eye shields, aprons, hearing protection, hairnets, beard nets, etc.
  • Must be able to work mornings, evenings and/or weekends based on production needs and may be required to work overtime, and holidays.
  • Perform all tasks associated with the job, safely and in a manner that will not create or pose a direct threat to the health and/or safety of the sanitation worker or others.
  • Able to work in a fast paced, high stress environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Work according to food facility regulations.
  • Perform duties at elevations greater than 5ft.
  • Perform light to heavy cleaning duties using various equipment, machinery and utensils.
  • Basic knowledge of sanitation procedures and chemical application.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Inside and outside areas of a typical industrial facility, which includes working with and around large machinery, outside grounds, variations in temperature, sound (decibels), odors, humidity, elevations, and dust.

SKILLS

  • Basic sanitation experience desired.
  • Able to understand and follow oral and written work instructions.
  • Able to do arithmetic and numeric calculations.
  • Able to work with fellow coworkers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Able to operate various cleaning equipment.
  • Able to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Able to identify and address cleanliness and sanitation issues.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Work around food manufacturing equipment and supplies.
  • Continuously lift, push, pull, and grasp while standing and kneeling for an 8 to 12 hour shift.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
