Company Description: NAMI San Diego and Imperial Counties (National Alliance on Mental Illness) is a nonprofit organization that provides free education, support services, and advocacy to improve the quality of life of everyone affected by mental illnesses.

Primary Responsibilities/Function: Ideal candidate is a responsible, hardworking, individual who takes pride in their work and is willing to be an active participant in our Connections 2 Community Clubhouse team. Responsible for the external and internal appearance and sanitation of the facilities and execute intermediate routine building maintenance when needed. The ideal candidate will be experienced in a custodian role focused on building upkeep. They will have sufficient physical endurance to cover a large space and a keen eye for detail and diligence. The candidate will also be able to present with professionalism with clients and staff alike.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance and minor repairs.
  • Report major damages and oversee repairs.
  • Adhere to the company's safety policies to create a safe work environment for everyone.
  • Conducts routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of facilities, machinery, and equipment.
  • Tests, inspects, and troubleshoots facilities or equipment issues.
  • Ensure spaces are prepared for the next day by taking out the trash, tidying furniture, and dusting surfaces.
  • Sweep and mop floors and vacuum carpets.
  • Wash and sanitize toilets, sinks, and showers and restock bathrooms as needed.
  • Wipe mirrors and windows.
  • Maintain outer premises including the courtyard and parking lot.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Accountability: Reports to Program Manager.

  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking.

Minimum Requirements, including linguistic and cultural skills, education, experiences, licenses and certifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent.
  • Proficient knowledge of cleaning equipment and agents.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in handling basic maintenance repairs.
  • Physically agile and dexterous.
  • Resilient to cleaning agents and chemicals.
  • Outstanding organizational skills.
  • Trauma-informed, as we serve an underserved population.

COVID Protocols and Work Environment: As an essential worker providing both telehealth and in-person services, successful candidate will follow CDC guidelines, state guidelines and local mandates for COVID-19 prevention.
