ABOUT THE POSITION


There is one full-time (75 hours biweekly) vacancy in the Human Resources Department.

The Equal Employment Division implements and administers the County’s equal employment policies and programs. This includes preparing long-range and annual plans and reports, training and advising management and employees on County policies and state and federal laws relating to discrimination, harassment and retaliation, working with related commissions and committees, and tracking and reporting workforce composition and utilization in the organization. In addition, the division is responsible for coordinating and resolving discrimination, harassment and retaliation complaint investigations.

The Equal Employment Specialist provides staff assistance to various commissions and committees that work closely with the Human Resources Department including the Marin Women’s Commission, Equal Employment Advisory Committee and the Human Rights Commission. This position serves as a first point of contact for receiving complaints involving discrimination and harassment. In addition, this position gathers, assembles and prepares reports and information for workforce analysis, investigations and other related departmental functions.

Remote Work Options: The Department has embraced a hybrid work schedule that considers that some duties of this position may be performed remotely, and options to telework up to three days per week are available. However, the successful candidate must be able to report to County facilities for meetings, work assignments, and/or disaster service work upon short notice, as needed. While onboarding and training, the successful candidate may be required to work primarily onsite before establishing a hybrid work schedule.


ABOUT YOU


The ideal candidate is capable of providing technical and administrative assistance to team members and commission/committee members including preparing reports, agendas, minutes, coordinating events, and tracking budgets. They have experience performing basic intake for investigations and communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing. In addition they have strong analytical and problem solving skills, possess strong interpersonal and organization skills, and are able to collaborate effectively and positively with team members and others contacted through the course of work.

We recognize your time is valuable, so please do not apply if you do not have at least the following required Minimum Qualifications: Equivalent to two years of college course work in public administration, social or behavioral science, or a closely related field and two years of experience providing office support in a court, criminal justice, investigative or legal office setting, or supporting an executive level leader, Board or Commission. Additional experience as detailed above may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis.

Paid, volunteer and/or lived experience with disadvantaged and protected group members in the areas of women's rights, human relations, equal employment, or a closely related field is highly desired.

Disaster Service Workers: All County of Marin employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law (California Government Code Section 3100-3109). Employment with the County requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
