Summary
Marathon Petroleum Company is seeking an Area Team Engineering Supervisor to support its Mandan Refinery and Dickinson Renewable Diesel Facility located in North Dakota. The Area Team Engineering Supervisor must have the ability to stimulate the development of communication and interpersonal skills of personnel so that appropriate work relationships can be developed with stakeholders, contractors, and other work associates. Provides leadership and supervises the development, management, and completion of a wide range of engineering and construction projects primarily involving refining facilities; applies an advanced level of project management and technical engineering knowledge and experience to monitor and ensure that projects are completed in a timely, cost effective, and quality-controlled manner.
This position is located in Mandan, ND and reports to the Engineering Manager.
Key Responsibilities
  • Strategically distributes workloads; ensures that projects are completed within the intended budget year. Maintains assigned workloads in a flexible environment to meet the changing needs of the refinery.
  • Trains personnel in the areas of project management, engineering and construction design, project cost control, quality objectives, scheduling, and safety to allow for the efficient completion of project assignments.
  • Develops a teamwork approach to providing services and maintains a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Clearly communicates expectations to personnel; evaluates individual performance versus expectations to determine the areas of strength and weakness of personnel; appraises personnel of their performance status in a timely manner.
  • Pursues responsibilities with an eye toward innovation and cultivates innovation in personnel; documents and implements as appropriate innovative ideas.
  • Prepares status and progress reports for management. Maintains timely communication of project schedules, financial status, and project viability with the customer and appropriate personnel.
  • Maintains a knowledge of current appropriate local, state, and federal regulations that have potential impact on present and future operations, projects, and design. Initiates recommendations, changes, and improvements to ensure adequate and cost-effective compliance with regulations affecting area of responsibility.
  • Supports budgeting process by ensuring all projects are developed to meet budgeting deadlines and data is accurate and timely.
  • Works with project engineers to manages portfolio of projects and assists in prioritization to achieve year to year budgets.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited institution, mechanical or civil engineering preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years post-degree engineering experience, refining or petrochemical industry preferred.
  • Prior supervisory and/or leadership experience preferred.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US on a full-time indefinite basis without the need for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
