Job Title: Employment Ready Program Manager

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Provide case management and leadership to the Employment Ready Program at the Crisis Shelter. Oversee Work Therapy placement and intake process for Employment Ready and 1st Steps Programs. Supervises ERP Case Manager and ERP Job Coach Associate Staff positions at the Crisis Shelter.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key Result Area #1: LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT
- Train, empower, and equip volunteers and Associate Staff to know and practice UGM’s Core Values and ensure they are applied and practiced throughout the Women’s Crisis Shelter Services Department.
- Adequate time and resources are allocated to fully train volunteers in the culture of Rescue, Recovery and Restoration within UGM Ministries Grace Base Philosophy.
- Ensure the Director of Crisis Shelter and Client Service Manager are aware of all critical activities including staff, operations and programming in your area of responsibility.
Key Result Area #2: EMPLOYMENT READY PROGRAM
- Leadership and management are provided for the Employment Ready Program (ERP).
- Documentation (case management notes, bed moves, and progress notes) for ERP clients is kept up to date and entered into the Waypoint Database.
- Ensure classes (Work Net, Boundaries, Bible Study, Money Management) are consistently being provided for the ERP and are in line with UGM’s Grace Base Philosophy.
- Follow up of referrals from case managers and work place supervisors as needed.
- Weekly inspections of EPR and RV rooms, regular inspections of bathrooms to ensure rooms are clean and maintained in accordance with UGM policy.
- Weekly collection of Accountability sheets and other paperwork from ERP participants.
- Bi-Weekly case management meetings are provided to help ERP clients set realistic career and life goals and develop a plan to achieve them.
- Lead weekly ERP Community Meetings.
- Identify and interview nominated clients for ERP, Resident Volunteers as needed.
- Assist ERP graduates in finding employment.
- Coordinate with other departments, agencies, and companies to refer ERP clients to information and resources.
- Track employment gained by ERP clients in Waypoint database. Work with Vocational Advancement Program Assistant to maintain a list of UGM Business Partners who have hired ERP graduates.
- Accurately track ERP statistics and notes in Waypoint database.
- Provide oversight, training, and resources to ERP Case Manager and ERP Job Coach Associate Staff positions.
- Coordinate with UGM departments to ensure events at UGM have ERP assistance as needed.
- Assist clients in obtaining bank accounts when appropriate.
- Provide training to ERP clients in completing online and physical job applications to obtain work.
- Train and provide mock interviews to ready ERP program participants to be successful in job interviews.
- Train ERP program participants to obtain documents required to gain employment. These include social security card, drivers licenses or ID cards issued by State or Federal Government, certified birth certificates, or passports.
- Review background checks of participant and discuss the effect on obtaining employments, especially which jobs will not be available for certain offenses.
- Work with ERP participant to clear up errors in background checks.
- Familiarize ERP participants on the UGM ETO program, including distinctives to be eligible to apply for positions.
- Provide final interview for appropriateness and approve clients for the Employment Ready Program.
Key Result Area #3: STANDARD DAILY OPERATIONS
- Read and follow CS Standard Operating Procedures
- Has participated in an evacuation drill quarterly and is aware of and practiced in emergency evacuation procedures
- Participate in intake training process and procedures
- Track and manage available beds.
- Document key events of the day; including info on new or exited guests.
- Document tasks that still need to be done.
- Keep guests informed of daily/weekly activities.
- Accurately track extension, late exceptions, work verifications and chapel attendance.
- Provide support to guest services desk
- Complete, maintain and update administrative tasks and assorted computer tasks.
- Ensure that the guests are abiding by the drug and alcohol policy of the shelter. (Perform UA/BA regularly)
- Represent the mission both inside and outside of the organization.
- Pack and store guest items that are left behind and accurately label and document.
- See to ALL items going through the Hot-Box for minimum of 12 hours and all items are returned to guests
- Keep a standard of excellence for the overall cleanliness and safety of the entire shelter.
- Assure Crisis Shelter is a clean and safe healing environment
Key Result Area #4: WORK THERAPY ASSIGNMENTS
- Coordinate with workplace supervisors to ensure that ERP and RV have proper work assignments, are fulfilling their duties and completing their hours.
- Manage the residents Chore Assignments, ensuring they take an active role in daily chores as part of their recovery
- Follow-up with workplace supervisors to ensure PADMAN Evaluations are being conducted monthly for all ERP and RV Program clients.
- Ensure UGM nomination process is being followed by all workplace supervisors.
- Ensure appropriate communication is occurring between workplace locations when Work Therapy positions are moved.
- Ensure all Work Therapy positions are filled on a needs based priority system and based on the appropriateness of the client to fulfill the role.
- Provide input and resources for work therapy supervisors to ensure they are able to develop client’s skills, such as organization, time management, and effective communication.
- Update the database when a client changes from one work assignment to another, or changes status.
- Ensure full work assignment rosters are maintained for all work therapy areas.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Committed Christian, able and willing to model servant-leadership and interested in being part of a ministry for the poor, homeless, drug addicted and mentally ill. Grounded in the Christian faith as a mature, active member of the body of Christ. In accordance with Union Gospel Mission Statement of Purpose, Statement of Vision and Statement of Faith.
- Strong Interpersonal skills - exercise compassion and discernment while modeling the teachings of Jesus Christ.
- Able and willing, as a unified team member, to honor the leadership, chain of command, and standards and ministry objectives of Union Gospel Mission.
- Computer literate (Word, Excel, Outlook, Office 365, Waypoint, UKG HR, web browsers); able to complete documents, reports and accurately record information. Willing to continue education as needed or required.
- Excellent communication skills: written, verbal and instructional.
- Must have a teachable spirit and the ability manage multiple emotional and task related variables, listen, and make sound decisions in alignment with UGM’s purpose.
- Minimum 5 years of sobriety, if in recovery.
- Insightful, trustworthy, honest, reliable, model appropriate boundaries, and strong work ethic.
- Valid Washington or Idaho driver’s license– required.
- CPR/First Aid certification – required.
- Yearly TB clearance – required.
- Criminal background check clearance – required.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL FACTORS:
Occasionally = 1%-33%; Frequently = 34%-66%; Continuously = 67%-100%
- Work is primarily indoors and may require climbing three flights of stairs, sitting, standing, bending, reaching, and going from building to building - Continuously.
- Requires working with a diverse population, many of whom struggle with homelessness, addiction and mental illness – continuously.
- Requires a sustained level of high energy, stamina, and the ability to move about all of the facilities on a regular and ongoing basis – frequently.
- Requires the ability to hear, see, and speak clearly – continuously.
EQUIPMENT/TOOLS USED:
- Computer (Word, Excel, Database, Outlook, Internet, Office 365, Waypoint, UKG HR, web browsers), Copier/printer, Phone, Fax, Breathalyzer, and Drug Testing Kit.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- 2 year degree in Social Work, Human Services, or related field, or exhibited experience - required
- Demonstrated management experience - required
- 4 year degree in Social Work, Human Services or related field – preferred
- 5+ year’s prior related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience – preferred
- Previous experience working with homeless or at-risk populations - preferred
