As an Electroencephalography (EEG) Technologist Trainee, you will receive training and instruction in performing electroencephalographic examinations and epilepsy monitoring. While working alongside and learning from some of Cleveland Clinic’s best caregivers, you will work toward becoming a non-registered EEG technologist after one year of training with the expectation of becoming a registered EEG technologist afterwards. Then, you will have the opportunity to take more registry exams allowing you to further your career.

Responsibilities:
- Applies suitable electrodes on predetermined measured positions and selecting appropriate montages.
- Calibrates and adjusts equipment.
- Observes patients with video and digital recording equipment; ensures EEG and tape are lined up exactly; checks focus, lighting and microphone.
- Abstracts relevant patient information from clinical record and obtains additional information by questioning.
- Applies electrodes, respiration monitors and EKG.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Knowledge of physical and biological sciences normally attained through high school course work with emphasis in those areas.
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or obtained within one month of hire.
Complexity of Work:
- Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment.
- Must be able to work in a dynamic ever changing environment and take appropriate action.
Work Experience:
- Minimum six months direct patient care experience.
- One year post-secondary education may substitute for experience.
Physical Requirements:
- A high degree of dexterity to produce materials on a PC, normal or corrected vision, extensive sitting and frequent walking, occasional lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to assist with positioning and transporting patients, i.e., pushing beds, carts, and wheelchairs.
- Ability to maneuver equipment and motor coordination to operate equipment.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
