Job Summary:

To provide DOSA Assessments and DOSA Examination Reports for offenders in those counties assigned to ABHS via the DOC Contract. Ensures the timely completion of assessments for all assigned court ordered DOSA Assessments. Provide accurate documentation to the appropriate courts, prosecuting offices, Public Defenders and the Department Of Corrections consistent with the DOSA Assessment order.

Qualifications:

Must have a BA degree in Psychology, Social Work, or an AA degree and equivalent experience, and meet the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) requirements for a qualified Chemical Dependency Counselor (CDP) or Chemical Dependency Counselor Trainee (CDPT) under the supervision of a qualified CDP, as per Chapter 18.205 RCW and WAC 246-811. Must have documented experience working independently and be able to gain clearance to enter all county prisons and jails. Documented experience completing Substance Use Assessments and applying ASAM criteria to evaluate the appropriate level of care for those offenders seeking treatment

Physical Demands:

Must have a valid drivers license, proof of insurance and be able to drive long distances. Must be able to sit for long periods. Must be able to use computer keyboard and view monitor for long periods of time.

Work Environment:

Moderate noise (business office with computers, printers, light traffic).

ESENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Conducts an initial assessment for all court ordered offenders substance abuse treatment and complete a DOSA Exam Summary.

2. Ensure copies of DOSA assessments DOSA Exam Summary, ROI’s, and Court Orders are provided to all applicable parties.

3. Coordinate assessment activities with all jails, prisons, offenders and ABHS staff as appropriate.

4. Responsible for maintenance, security and completeness of assessment files, to include securing appropriate background information from other agencies and institutions, filing case material as it is received, recording interview summaries and activities of the client, and all other pertinent information.

5. Responsible for keeping all assessment file data current, complete, and in acceptable order according to agency standards and WAC requirements; keeps all records confidential and secure.

6. Maintain statistical data and other information as required by DOC and American Behavioral Health Systems.

7. Attend all clinical staff meetings and provide formal clinical presentations as needed.

8. Must be able to take written and/or verbal orders.

9. Have a working knowledge of all provider contracts, provider agreements, and ABHS Policies and Procedures.

10. Responsible for maintaining current continuing education and state licensing/registration requirements as per Chapter 18.205 RCW and WAC 246-12-170 and for pursing continuing education and certification in Choice Theory/Reality Therapy training.

11. Performs other related duties as assigned.

12. Responds to the directives of the supervisor and management staff in a professional and cooperative manner.

13. Assures that all DOSA clients’ needs are met with dignity and respect in a timely manner.

14. Makes decisions based on the welfare of the offender, the success of the team, and the quality and integrity of the program.

15. Understands and facilitates federal confidentiality laws, 42 CFR, and protects client confidentiality/anonymity, and assures no information is shared without proper authorization.
