Director of Security Job at New Haven Parking Authority
Director of Security
Salary Range - $75,000 - $85,000
40 hours per week, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
FUNCTION OF JOB: Under supervision of the Chief Operating Officer, to supervise and direct security activities in order to provide safety and protection for employees, patrons, and property of the Authority.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Recommends for hiring, supervises, and evaluates security/enforcement personnel; conducts training programs, including de-escalation training for employees.
Coordinates activities and operations with other security forces.
Prepares security reports and analysis of all incidents occurring on property owned or controlled by the Authority.
Makes recommendations for loss prevention, security programs, and analyzes patterns; makes budget recommendations relative to security.
Maintains liaison and professional relations with police enforcement and court system personnel.
Conducts investigations, surveillance, and enforcement activities.
Coordinates and assists maintenance department with Life Safety equipment inspections, reports and repairs.
Orchestrates and coordinates Active Shooter drills with other security agencies.
Orchestrates and coordinates periodic Fire/Building evacuation drills.
Orchestrates and coordinates monthly Union Station Transportation Center Campus Security Meetings.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Extensive knowledge of police and security functions.
Knowledge and understanding of criminal law, arrest processing, and rights of victims and perpetrators.
Knowledge of Authority operations and facilities.
Ability to deal effectively with the public, other law enforcement agencies, and subordinates.
Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Ten years of experience in law enforcement, including supervisory experience.
Bachelor's degree in criminal justice or related field.
Valid State of Connecticut driver's license.
Any equivalent combination of training and experience.
