Director of Music Job at Archdiocese of Boston
The Catholic Parish of Saint Mary in Wrentham, MA, is seeking a part time Director of Music Ministries to start in June 2023. This director is part of the Pastoral Team which serves the Plainville-Wrentham Catholic Collaborative, but the role is focused on providing and coordinating music ministries at St. Mary Parish (an average of 15 hours a week).
Successful applicants will have experience in a variety of styles of liturgical worship music, and bring an uplifting, prayerful spirit to this important ministry. An understanding of the role of music in Catholic liturgy is required; more extensive liturgical knowledge and/or experience directing children’s choir would be plusses. Responsibilities include providing accompaniment and directing vocalists at weekend Masses (Sat 4:00; Sun 9:30, 12:00 and 5:00), holy days, and other sacramental celebrations; funerals & weddings offer additional stipends. Applicants should be prepared to demonstrate skills in playing piano and organ (with proficiency in at least one); skills with directing our adult choir, cantors, contemporary ensemble; also fostering congregational singing and new vocalists. This position requires pastoral sensitivity and ability to collaborate well with clergy, lay ministers (adults and teens), and the public.
