Position Summary: This newly created position of Director of Development will be responsible for the fundraising efforts of Tapestry Charter School. The Director of Development will focus on creating a culture of philanthropy within Tapestry Charter School and develop and execute an annual fundraising plan.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Work with the Executive Director and Board of Trustees to develop a cohesive fundraising strategy to increase individual giving and support for the school and oversee all aspects of implementing the strategy.
Lead school's fundraising for capital projects. Manage timelines and stakeholder engagement, and track progress towards goal.
Identify, cultivate and solicit individual, corporate, foundation and government donors.
Manage the school's annual campaigns and appeals.
Develop and implement strategies to support a strong culture of recognizing and appreciating donors and volunteers.
Research and identify grant opportunities and prepare grant LOIs and submissions that match up with organizational needs.
Organize and plan fundraising special events including logistics, invitations, solicitation of sponsors, fulfilling sponsorship benefits, tracking participants, and event follow-up.
Oversee development committee meetings, prepare agendas and minutes, report on fundraising progress, and keep them up to date on fundraising activities.
Maintain an accurate and complete constituent database.
Develop and oversee Tapestry's overall fundraising and communications strategy and goals in connection with strategic objectives, and urgent and demonstrated needs.
Accept annual fundraising goals and define the resources that are available to support each objective.
Liaise with the COO and Audit & Finance Committee to ensure that fundraising benchmarks calibrate to financial needs.
Manage a personal outreach program with the most important or sensitive donors and prospects, individual and institutional; maintain an active calendar of meetings, cultivation activities and solicitations; develop grant proposals.
Oversee all trustee fundraising initiatives and coordinate the work of the Development Committee.
Produce acknowledgements and cultivation correspondence as well as maintain updated records.
Manage all external communications and marketing, including fundraising appeals, and develop external marketing materials including print, web, and other electronic media, in collaboration with academic administrators and designers.
Develop cultivation materials including fact sheets and newsletters.
Organize parent volunteers and manage event production.
Overall campaign management and organization including strategy, pipelines, prospect tracking, task assignment and maintenance of timelines.
Provide research and analysis of biographical, philanthropic, professional and financial information on donors and prospects. Prepare written profiles, rating memos, and qualified lists to support the cultivation of individuals. Perform quantitative analysis to determine capacity ratings based on financial data to qualify prospects.
Organize and monitor volunteer assignments and follow-up, and assist in all aspects of volunteer-led events.
Create custom, detailed reports and necessary materials related to the campaign. Track progress of the campaign through financial and moves management reports.
Perform additional duties as needed.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, or related field desired.
A minimum of three years experience in a fundraising/development role is required.
Strong grant writing and donor relations experience is a must.
Prior experience with related responsibilities is highly preferred. EOE.
